Well-documented data
Coltsfoot carries serious safety concerns. It contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids (liver-toxic compounds) that can cause liver and lung injury with chronic use, including a condition called veno-occlusive disease with symptoms like belly pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and fluid buildup.
Only certified pyrrolizidine-alkaloid-free products should be considered, if at all. The safety data advises against coltsfoot during pregnancy and while breastfeeding due to potential liver toxicity and harm to the baby.
Wormwood is generally well tolerated at typical doses, though nausea and vomiting occur in some users. Rare cases of liver injury have been reported.
There isn't enough safety information to know whether wormwood is safe while breastfeeding, and the safety data advises against it during pregnancy. Wormwood is meant for short-term use and shouldn't replace proven treatments.

Coltsfoot & Wormwood Glycerite Liquid Extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Concomitant use might increase the risk of bleeding due to decreased platelet aggregation. Coltsfoot has been reported to inhibit platelet aggregation; avoid concomitant use. Some of these drugs include aspirin, clopidogrel (Plavix), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, ticlopidine (Ticlid), warfarin (Coumadin), and others.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, excessive doses of coltsfoot may interfere with antihypertensive or cardiovascular therapy.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Inducers
Hepatotoxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PA) are substrates of cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). Theoretically, drugs that induce CYP3A4 might increase the conversion of PAs to toxic metabolites. Some drugs that induce CYP3A4 include carbamazepine (Tegretol), phenobarbital, phenytoin (Dilantin), rifampin, rifabutin (Mycobutin), and others.
