Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Partial disclosure
Complete K has 4 active ingredients—all forms of vitamin K: vitamin K, vitamin K1 (phylloquinone), and vitamin K2 (menaquinone). These are the same vitamin in slightly different chemical forms; your body uses them to make clotting proteins and support bone health.
The capsules also contain acacia gum and white rice flour as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
Vitamin K is effective for treating clotting factor deficiencies, including hypoprothrombinemia and vitamin K-dependent clotting factor deficiency (VKCFD), and it's effective for reversing warfarin anticoagulation and treating hemorrhagic disease. For osteoporosis, the evidence is possibly effective—it may help, but the data isn't as robust.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Taken by mouth, vitamin K is generally well tolerated. The most common side effects are mild—nausea, stomach upset, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
These are not serious. Vitamin K is rated likely safe in pregnancy and lactation.
However, because this product can interfere with blood thinner medications, check with your doctor before starting it, even if you're otherwise healthy.
Meds to double-check
Major interaction found
If you take warfarin (Coumadin) or any other blood thinner, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product. Vitamin K can significantly reduce the effectiveness of your blood thinner medication.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glancePartially disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. Major medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Complete K is useful if you have a clotting deficiency or need vitamin K for bone support. The big caution is warfarin and other blood thinners—vitamin K can reduce how well they work, so you'll need your doctor's OK and monitoring before taking this.
Talk it over with your own doctor or pharmacist before starting, especially if you're on any blood thinner or take multiple medications.
