Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: cordyceps mushroom at 1,100 mg per capsule. The capsules also include inactive ingredients — pullulan (a polysaccharide that forms the capsule shell), magnesium stearate (a lubricant), and olive oil.
Those inactive components are excipients; the cordyceps is what supplies the supplement's intended effect.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for cordyceps is mixed and often insufficient. For athletic performance, cordyceps is rated possibly ineffective — the data doesn't show it reliably boosts exercise capacity.
For other uses listed in clinical research — sexual dysfunction, heart rhythm problems, asthma, lung cancer, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) — there isn't reliable evidence to rate it one way or the other. In short, a real benefit hasn't been clearly proven for the conditions studied so far.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Cordyceps is generally well tolerated when taken for up to a year, though the evidence base is limited and product quality varies widely. The most common side effects from oral use are mild: abdominal discomfort, constipation, diarrhea, dry mouth, and throat discomfort — and these were uncommon in studies.
Taking cordyceps with food may reduce stomach upset. There is one case report of liver inflammation (hepatitis) in someone using a cordyceps product, but it's unclear whether cordyceps itself or a contaminating substance caused it.
The safety data advises against cordyceps during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check with your pharmacist before using this product if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (such as warfarin, clopidogrel, or aspirin) — cordyceps may increase bleeding risk. Also flag it if you're on immunosuppressants like cyclosporine or testosterone therapy.
No interactions are documented with other ingredient types we checked.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Cordyceps is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but the evidence that it works for athletic performance or other common uses is weak or missing. If you're on blood thinners, immunosuppressants, or testosterone, check your specific medications before adding this — cordyceps may interfere.
Avoid it if you're pregnant or breastfeeding. Talk to your pharmacist about whether it makes sense for you.

Cordyceps Mushroom 1,100 mg by Nutricost Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Nutricost Cordyceps Mushroom 1,100 mg contains one ingredient — cordyceps — that interacts with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin, clopidogrel, and aspirin), where cordyceps may theoretically increase bleeding risk. Animal and lab research suggests cordyceps can slow blood clotting, though this hasn't been reported in human patients yet.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Cordyceps also interacts with immunosuppressants (drugs that weaken your immune system intentionally, such as cyclosporine). Theory suggests cordyceps stimulates immunity, which could interfere with those medications working as intended.
Additionally, cordyceps may have additive effects with testosterone therapy, though the clinical importance of this is unclear.
Although these interactions are documented, most have not been observed in actual human use — they come from lab and animal studies. Still, if you take any blood thinners, immunosuppressants, or testosterone, check your exact medications with the search tool on this page before starting cordyceps.

Cordyceps Mushroom
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, cordyceps may increase the risk of bleeding when used with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
In vitro and animal research suggests that cordyceps extract inhibits platelet aggregation and function. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
Animal and in vitro research suggests that cordyceps stimulates the immune system. However, limited clinical research suggests that taking cordyceps may lower the necessary therapeutic dose of the immunosuppressant cyclosporine, which suggests that cordyceps may have an immunosuppressive effect.
Testosterone
Theoretically, concurrent use of cordyceps and testosterone might have additive effects.
Animal research suggests that cordyceps can increase testosterone levels. The clinical significance of this finding is unclear.
