D-Mannose Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking D-Mannose against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: D-mannose, a simple sugar (carbohydrate) that your body doesn't fully break down the way it does regular glucose. The inactive ingredient is magnesium stearate, a common binder.
Does it work?
Strong evidence
D-mannose is likely effective for carbohydrate-deficient glycoprotein syndrome type 1b, a rare genetic condition. For urinary tract infections (UTIs), the evidence we hold rates it as possibly ineffective — meaning the data don't support its use for that purpose.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
D-mannose is generally well tolerated in the short term, but long-term safety data are sparse. The most common side effects are bloating, diarrhea, and nausea.
Diarrhea is more likely at higher doses (over 200 mg per kilogram of body weight in a single dose), though it's been reported even at lower amounts. In children taking it regularly, loose stools and bloating have occurred.
Safety data in pregnancy aren't adequate, so the advice is to avoid it unless your doctor specifically directs otherwise. Breastfeeding safety isn't well studied either — talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you're nursing.
Meds to double-check

No interactions are documented in our data for D-mannose. That said, check your exact medications with the tool on this page, and if you have questions, run them past your doctor or pharmacist.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with clinical evidence supporting its stated purpose. No medication interactions are currently documented, and safety information is well characterized.
D-mannose may help with carbohydrate-deficient glycoprotein syndrome type 1b if that's your diagnosis, but evidence doesn't support using it for UTIs. It's usually tolerated okay short-term, though GI side effects like diarrhea and bloating can happen — especially at higher doses.
If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking any regular medications, check with your doctor or pharmacist first.
