Dr. Garber's Mood Boost is a liquid with five active ingredients: Fig Tree, Lime Tree, Silver Birch, Cortico-Hypothalamic extract, and Lepidolite.
Fig Tree is traditionally used for digestive and skin health; Lime Tree for various conditions including immune support; Silver Birch for joint and hair concerns; and Cortico-Hypothalamic extract and Lepidolite for their purported effects on mood and cognition, though we hold no detailed efficacy data on the latter two. The liquid also contains inactive ingredients — glycerin, purified water, and alcohol — which serve as preservatives and carriers.

Our data rates Fig Tree for constipation, eczema, diabetes, melasma, and vitiligo as having insufficient reliable evidence; Lime Tree for iron deficiency anemia, malaria, sickle cell disease, and smoking cessation the same way; and Silver Birch for joint pain, hair loss, and dandruff likewise.

How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Fig fruit as food is well tolerated and likely safe in pregnancy and lactation, but concentrated fig leaf products lack safety data — the facts caution against them. Topically, fig leaf can cause photodermatitis (sun-triggered skin burns), and a few cases required hospitalization.
Lime as food is generally safe, but concentrated extracts or essential oil should be cleared with your doctor first; topical lime juice can cause sun-triggered skin reactions. Silver Birch is generally well tolerated in food-like amounts but can trigger allergic reactions; safety data during pregnancy and breastfeeding are not established, so the facts advise against it during both.
No adverse effects are documented in our data for Cortico-Hypothalamic extract or Lepidolite.

Lime Tree
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Animal research shows that phenolics in lime juice inhibit cytochrome P450 3A4. This has been demonstrated in rats treated with sildenafil, a CYP3A4 substrate, and high doses of lime juice.
Photosensitizing Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of lime oil with photosensitizing drugs may increase the risk of phototoxicity.
Fig Tree
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, fig leaf might enhance the blood glucose lowering effects of hypoglycemic drugs.
A small clinical study in patients with type 1 diabetes shows that consuming a tea made from fig leaves modestly reduces postprandial glucose levels and insulin requirements.
Insulin
Fig leaf may enhance the blood glucose lowering effects of insulin.

Photosensitizing Drugs
Theoretically, fig might increase the risk of photosensitivity when used in combination with photosensitizing drugs.
Many cases of photodermatitis from fig leaf have been reported. Some drugs that also cause photosensitivity include amitriptyline (Elavil), quinolones (Ciprofloxacin, others), sulfa drugs (Septra, Bactrim, others), and tetracycline.
