Digestin is a digestive enzyme blend with 10 active ingredients designed to support your digestive system. It contains proteolytic enzymes (protease and pepsin) to help break down proteins, lipase to work on fats, amylase for carbohydrates, and cellulase for plant fiber.

It also includes betaine hydrochloride to increase stomach acid, plus papain from papaya, and includes tissue extracts from the stomach, pancreas, duodenum, and bile to mimic the body's own digestive secretions. Betaine hydrochloride is not safe for people with ulcers, gastritis, or true acid reflux, as it increases stomach acid and could worsen these conditions or trigger heartburn. Papain is generally tolerated as a food but may cause digestive tract irritation and allergic reactions in supplement form; in sensitive people, allergic reactions can include itchy eyes, runny nose, sneezing, and diarrhea.

Protease and pepsin are generally well tolerated but may cause digestive upset or allergic reactions in some people. Regarding pregnancy, betaine hydrochloride should be avoided — there isn't enough safety data.
