Dtx-gen Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Genestra Brands
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Dtx-gen against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Dtx-gen contains three active ingredients: silver birch (in two forms — a bud extract and another preparation), and black currant bud extract. The product comes as a liquid and includes purified water, ethanol, and glycerin as inactive ingredients.
We don't have information in our data on what roles the silver birch forms play in this formula. Black currant bud extract is traditionally used in herbal medicine, though solid evidence for its effects on conditions like upper respiratory infections, cough, or skin conditions like eczema isn't established.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence on black currant for the conditions this product may target — including Alzheimer disease, liver disease, upper respiratory infections, cough, and eczema — is insufficient. We hold no effectiveness data on the silver birch ingredients.
If you're considering this product for a specific health goal, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether the evidence supports its use for your situation.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Black currant berry in food amounts is considered safe, but concentrated supplements like those in Dtx-gen are less studied, so use caution and check with your doctor first. In a trial of over 2,000 people taking black currant seed oil at a higher dose, a small number experienced mild diarrhea a few days after starting.
Our data does not include pregnancy or breastfeeding safety information for this product. If you're pregnant, nursing, or planning either, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using Dtx-gen.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking Dtx-gen, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel) — black currant may increase bleeding risk. Also confirm if you're on phenothiazines (antipsychotics), where there's a theoretical risk of seizures.
We could not check the silver birch ingredients against your medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Dtx-gen is a three-ingredient herbal liquid that hasn't been studied enough to confirm it works for conditions like cough or upper respiratory infections. The main caution is its black currant content, which may interact with blood thinners and certain psychiatric medications — so check your exact drugs before starting.
If you're pregnant or nursing, ask your doctor or pharmacist whether this product is right for you.

Dtx-gen by Genestra Brands Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Dtx-gen by Genestra Brands has documented interactions through its black currant bud extract content.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (medications that prevent clots), where black currant may increase bleeding risk because of a compound it contains called gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which has mild clot-preventing effects.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Black currant also carries a moderate-severity theoretical concern with phenothiazines (antipsychotic medications used for schizophrenia and other conditions). GLA in black currant may lower the seizure threshold, raising the risk of seizures in people taking these drugs, though no actual cases have been reported.
We could not check the two silver birch ingredients — one bud extract and one other form — because we hold no interaction data for them. Altogether, these interactions span 140 individual medications.

Black Currant (Ribes nigrum) bud extract
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, black currant seed oil might increase the risk of bleeding if used in combination with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a constituent of black currant seed oil, appears to have antiplatelet effects.
Phenothiazines
Theoretically, black currant seed oil might increase the risk of seizure in patients receiving phenothiazines.
Black currant seed oil contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). There is some concern that taking supplements containing GLA might cause seizures, or lower the seizure threshold, when taken with phenothiazines, although there is no evidence that black currant seed oil causes seizures. In one report, three patients with schizophrenia who had received phenothiazines developed EEG changes suggestive of temporal lobe epilepsy after starting treatment with GLA, although none experienced an actual seizure. In another report, two patients with schizophrenia who were stabilized on phenothiazines developed seizures when evening primrose 4 grams daily, which contains GLA, was added. One of these patients had a prior history of seizures.
