HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Fish Oil by GNC Triple Strength

Four independent checks of what is known — a summary of the available information, not a grade of the product itself.

Evidence for Intended Use
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

None of the active ingredients could be matched to our evidence database, so intended use can't be graded.

Why this rating?
  • None of the active ingredients could be matched to a HelloPharmacist monograph, so intended use can't be graded against our evidence data.
Ingredient Transparency
Full

Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 2 of its 2 active ingredients.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.
Known Interaction Concern
Not assessable

None of the active ingredients could be matched to our interaction database.

Enteric Coated

Potency verified by GNC procedure #5123. conforms to USP <2091> for weight.

Formula

Consumption of omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. FDA evaluated the data and determined that, although there is scientific evidence supporting the claim, the evidence is not conclusive.

Fish oils naturally provide the heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid). One enteric coated softgel capsule features a total of 900 mg of omega-3 fatty acids; 647 mg of EPA and 253 mg of DHA, three times the strength of GNC's regular Fish Oil.

900 mg total omega-3 fatty acids in a single softgel

Formulation

The enteric coating allows the softgel capsule to break down and absorb in the small intestine. This controls or reduces the fishy burps.

A landmark study involving over 11,000 participants has confirmed the major benefits of fish oil on cardiovascular health. The omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil are necessary for heart health. They help support normal, healthy cholesterol levels and are necessary in the maintenance of normal blood pressure. Individually, EPA is important for circulatory system health, and DHA provides support for healthy triglyceride levels.

In addition to the numerous heart health benefits, fish oil also: Supports joint and skin health Supports the body’s natural anti-inflammatory response Supplies DHA which is required for optimal eye and brain function

Purified to reduce contaminants such as heavy merals, dioxins and PCBs.
