Fungus Defend Max Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Fungus Defend Max against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Fungus Defend Max by Justified Laboratories
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Fungus Defend Max has 6 active ingredients. The main ones are probiotics — live beneficial bacteria strains including Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-14, Lactobacillus paracasei LPC-37, Lactobacillus plantarum Lp-115, and Bifidobacterium animalis lactis BL-04, all grouped under the MAKTREK Proprietary Blend.
You'll also find fructooligosaccharides (FOS), a type of fiber that feeds beneficial bacteria in your gut, and a Marine Polysaccharide Complex. The capsule itself contains cellulose, rice maltodextrin, and L-leucine as inactive ingredients.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
Evidence for the probiotics in this product is mixed. Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-14 is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), antibiotic-associated diarrhea, bacterial vaginosis, and Helicobacter pylori infection — but it's also rated possibly ineffective for atopic disease (allergic conditions).
For the other probiotic strains and ingredients, we don't have effectiveness ratings in our data, so we can't tell you what the science shows. FOS has been studied for osteoporosis, constipation, diabetes, traveler's diarrhea, and cholesterol, but the evidence for each is rated insufficient to draw a conclusion.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. The probiotics in this product may cause mild gastrointestinal side effects — abdominal pain, bloating, flatulence, or diarrhea — but these are uncommon.
FOS can cause gas and bloating, especially at higher doses; most people tolerate food amounts fine, but supplement-level doses haven't been studied thoroughly. In rare cases, L. acidophilus preparations have been linked to serious infections (bacteremia, endocarditis) in certain patient populations, though these are thought to stem from bacteria moving from their natural locations in the body rather than the supplement itself.
If you have a weakened immune system or are hospitalized, talk to your doctor first.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take antibiotics, separate them from this supplement by several hours — the probiotic bacteria can be killed by the antibiotic, reducing its benefit. We could not check four of the product's ingredients (Bifidobacterium animalis lactis BL-04, Lactobacillus paracasei LPC-37, Lactobacillus plantarum Lp-115, and Marine Polysaccharide Complex) for interactions, so use the medication checker on this page to look up your full drug list before starting.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This is a multi-strain probiotic blend aimed at gut health. It may help if you have IBS, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, or certain infections, though the evidence varies by strain.
If you're taking antibiotics, space them several hours apart from this supplement. Before you start, check your medications — especially antibiotics — and talk to your pharmacist or doctor if you have a compromised immune system.

Fungus Defend Max by Justified Laboratories Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Fungus Defend Max by Justified Laboratories contains one ingredient with documented interactions: Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-14, a probiotic strain.
This ingredient interacts with antibiotics (a Moderate severity interaction). The live organisms in L. acidophilus can be killed by antibiotics taken at the same time, which may reduce how well the probiotic works — so space them out if you're on an antibiotic course.

Additionally, we could not check several other ingredients in this product: Bifidobacterium animalis lactis BL-04, Lactobacillus paracasei LPC-37, Lactobacillus plantarum Lp-115, and Marine Polysaccharide Complex. We hold no interaction data for these, so we can't tell you whether they interact with any drugs.
Fructooligosaccharides (FOS), a prebiotic fiber, has been checked and shows no interactions are documented in our data — though absence of documented interactions is not a guarantee none exist.
Additionally, the total number of medications affected across all of these ingredients is substantial: 182 individual medications. Before you start, use the medication checker on this page to look up your specific drugs.

Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
