Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This is a straightforward one-ingredient supplement: 750 mg of GABA, the abbreviation for gamma-aminobutyric acid, a compound your nervous system naturally produces. The tablet also contains several inactive ingredients — sorbitol, stearic acid, modified cellulose gum, silica, and magnesium stearate — that help hold it together and keep it stable on the shelf.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence for GABA supplements isn't well established yet. The facts we hold show insufficient reliable evidence for anxiety, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), athletic performance, chronic bronchitis, and cerebral palsy.
That doesn't mean it doesn't work — it means the research we have isn't solid enough to say either way. Talk with your doctor about whether it makes sense for whatever you're considering it for.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
GABA is generally well tolerated in the short term, but long-term safety hasn't been well studied. On the oral form, some people report drowsiness, nausea, stomach upset, mild throat burning, or muscle weakness.
One case mentioned a temporary loss of menstrual periods in someone taking GABA with another supplement, though that's very rare. There isn't enough safety information to recommend GABA while breastfeeding — talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether to take it.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Check your blood pressure medications (Moderate severity) — GABA may lower blood pressure further. Also double-check any sedating drugs you take, including sleep aids and certain pain relievers (Minor severity) — GABA might add to their drowsy effects.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist to review your exact medications before you start.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
GABA might be worth considering if you're curious about it for anxiety or focus, but the evidence isn't there yet to say it works. If you take blood pressure medication or sedating drugs, you'll want to check with your doctor or pharmacist first — this supplement could amplify their effects.
Long-term safety data is thin, so keep that in mind if you're thinking about taking it for months.

GABA
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, taking GABA with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Some clinical research shows that GABA can decrease blood pressure in patients with hypertension.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, GABA might have additive sedative effects when used in conjunction with CNS depressants. However, it is unclear if this concern is clinically relevant.
Endogenous GABA has well-established relaxant effects and GABA(A) receptors have an established physiological role in sleep. However, the effects of GABA supplements are unclear, as it is unknown whether exogenous GABA crosses the blood-brain barrier. Although there have been limited reports of drowsiness or tiredness with GABA supplements, these effects have not been widely reported in clinical studies. Additionally, intravenous GABA 0.1-1 mg/kg has been shown to induce anxiety in a dose-dependent manner.
