GluDaZyme contains 14 active ingredients—all digestive enzymes designed to help break down food in your gut. Lactase breaks down lactose (milk sugar); lipase works on fats; cellulase, xylanase, and hemicellulase break down plant fiber; glucoamylase and the amylases break down starches; and multiple proteases (protease I through V) break down proteins.

The formula also includes alpha galactosidase and dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV) to help with complex carbohydrates and peptides. The capsule itself is vegetarian cellulose; tapioca maltodextrin is an inactive filler.

Lactase and lipase are generally well tolerated when used as directed. The proteolytic enzymes are also generally well tolerated for most adults, though digestive upset or allergic reactions are possible.

Rarely, occupational exposure to airborne proteases has caused allergic rhinoconjunctivitis or asthma, but that's not the typical risk from taking a capsule by mouth. For pregnancy: lactase is likely safe, but there's limited data on lipase and proteases in pregnancy—use only if your doctor advises it.

Breastfeeding safety data for lipase and proteases is scant; check with your healthcare provider first. A very rare risk: premature infants given certain recombinant lipases have had gastrointestinal side effects, but that's a neonatal concern, not a general one.
