What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: lemon powder. There are no inactive ingredients listed.
Lemon powder is a concentrated form of lemon, and it's commonly used in beverages and food preparation.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold doesn't establish that lemon powder is effective for allergic rhinitis (hay fever), anxiety, respiratory tract infections, hypertension, or kidney stones. All of these uses are rated insufficient reliable evidence to rate, meaning the studies either don't exist or aren't solid enough to make a call.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lemon as a food or drink is generally well tolerated in normal amounts. However, when you use lemon powder or medicinal doses of lemon, the picture changes.
Fresh lemon juice taken in large amounts—about 60 mL twice daily—caused gastrointestinal disturbances in over a third of trial participants, with heartburn and stomach pain being the main complaints. We don't have thorough safety data on larger amounts of lemon powder.
Pregnancy and lactation information isn't on file for this ingredient, so we can't say either way whether it's safe to use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice if you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Minor interactions only
If you take itraconazole (Sporanox), an antifungal capsule or tablet, double-check with your pharmacist before using this lemon powder. It's a Minor interaction, but it can raise the drug level in your body.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Only minor medication interactions are documented, and safety information is well characterized.
Lemon powder is well tolerated in food amounts. If you're taking itraconazole (an antifungal), skip this product or check with your pharmacist first.
If you're considering medicinal doses, be aware it can cause heartburn and stomach upset in a meaningful number of people.

Theoretically, taking itraconazole capsules or tablets with a beverage containing lemon might increase the levels and clinical effects of itraconazole.
In one case report, dissolving itraconazole tablets in a small amount of specific beverages containing lemon prior to administration increased the level of itraconazole in a lung transplant patient. In this case, the increased bioavailability was desirable and was likely due to improved tablet dissolution in the acidic beverage.
