How safe is it?

Caprylic acid and caproic acid are generally recognized as safe in food, but supplement doses—like the amount in this product—haven't been studied as well, so caution is wise. The most common side effects from caprylic acid are mild stomach discomfort and a change in how things taste.
A small number of people have reported mild dizziness, headache, or fatigue. Lauric acid in large amounts can raise cholesterol levels, though it tends to raise the protective kind (HDL) along with the less protective kind (LDL).
For pregnancy: lauric acid is rated likely safe, but safety data for caprylic acid and caproic acid at supplement doses aren't firm enough—talk with your doctor before use. Caprylic and caproic acid do occur naturally in breast milk, but whether concentrated supplements are safe while nursing isn't established; again, check with your doctor or pharmacist first.

Theoretically, caprylic acid might increase the risk of hypotension when used with antihypertensive drugs.
Animal research suggests that caprylic acid might have positive inotropic effects, resulting in reduced arterial pressure and vascular resistance and increased cardiac output.
