Nettle 900 mg Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Nettle 900 mg against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Nettle 900 mg by Nature's Answer
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: 900 mg of nettle (stinging nettle). The capsule also holds vegetable cellulose, rice flour, and calcium silicate as inactive ingredients — these are binders and fillers that hold the capsule together.
Does it work?
Insufficient evidence
Clinical research suggests nettle may lower blood sugar, which is why it's rated possibly effective for diabetes. However, evidence for other common uses — hay fever, anemia, asthma, benign prostate enlargement, and gum inflammation — is currently insufficient to rate whether it works.
The data we hold doesn't establish how well this product performs for those conditions.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Nettle is generally well tolerated when taken as directed, though constipation and diarrhea are reported by some users. A rare case of liver injury has been reported, though that involved a multi-ingredient herbal blend, not nettle alone.
The safety data advises against nettle in pregnancy because there isn't enough evidence and there are traditional concerns about effects on the uterus. Safety during breastfeeding hasn't been established — talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking it if you're nursing.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take this product, check with your own doctor or pharmacist if you're on blood thinners like warfarin, diabetes medications, diuretics, or lithium. All four drug types have documented Moderate-severity interactions with nettle, and the effects could shift how well your medications work or your drug levels.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with insufficient evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Nettle may be worth considering if you're interested in blood sugar support, though the evidence is only "possibly effective." If you take blood thinners, diabetes drugs, diuretics, or lithium, you'll want to check your specific medications first with your doctor or pharmacist. Pregnant women and those who are breastfeeding should talk it over with their own healthcare provider before starting.

Nettle 900 mg by Nature's Answer Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Nettle 900 mg by Nature's Answer interacts with several medication types through its stinging nettle content.
The most serious documented concern is with blood thinners like warfarin — nettle is high in vitamin K, which can reduce how well these drugs work when taken in large amounts.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Nettle may also lower blood sugar levels, so combining it with diabetes medications could cause blood sugar to drop further than intended. It has diuretic (water-removing) properties that could add to the effects of diuretic medications, and it may increase lithium levels in your body by reducing how your kidneys clear it — which could require your lithium dose to be adjusted.
Each of these interactions carries a Moderate severity rating in our data. Altogether, these interactions span 164 individual medications.
If you take any blood thinner, diabetes drug, diuretic, or lithium, check your specific medications with the search tool on this page before you start.
