Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: lemon powder at 450 mg per serving. Lemon is the dried, powdered form of the fruit.

The powder also includes maltodextrin as an inactive ingredient (a filler that helps with texture and flow).

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Lemon product and its label doesn't state a use — see Lemon's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence for lemon powder's effectiveness isn't established in our data. We hold ratings for several uses—hay fever, anxiety, respiratory tract infections, high blood pressure, and kidney stones—but all of them show insufficient reliable evidence to rate.

That means the science hasn't caught up yet, not that it doesn't work; you'd want to talk with your doctor if you're considering it for any of these.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Lemon as a food or drink is well tolerated in normal amounts. The powder in this product is generally fine in typical doses, though a thorough safety review hasn't been done on larger amounts.

If you consume fresh lemon juice in medicinal quantities—like 60 mL twice daily—heartburn and stomach discomfort occur in a meaningful portion of people. Concentrated lemon supplements or essential oils haven't been well studied, so your doctor should weigh in before you use them.

Only Minor-severity interactions are documented for these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Lemon.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Only minor medication interactions are documented, and safety information is well characterized.

If you're taking itraconazole (Sporanox) for a fungal infection, check with your pharmacist before adding this powder—timing matters. For other uses, the evidence isn't there yet, and larger doses can upset your stomach.

Itraconazole (Sporanox)

Theoretically, taking itraconazole capsules or tablets with a beverage containing lemon might increase the levels and clinical effects of itraconazole.
In one case report, dissolving itraconazole tablets in a small amount of specific beverages containing lemon prior to administration increased the level of itraconazole in a lung transplant patient. In this case, the increased bioavailability was desirable and was likely due to improved tablet dissolution in the acidic beverage.

Organic Lemon Powder 450 mg by BulkSupplements.com: Common Questions

Does Organic Lemon Powder 450 mg by BulkSupplements.com interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Organic Lemon Powder 450 mg has a known interaction with 1 medication. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Organic Lemon Powder 450 mg contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Will this upset my stomach?
It depends on how much you take. In normal food amounts, lemon is well tolerated. But when people consume fresh lemon juice as a medicinal dose (like 60 mL twice daily), heartburn and stomach discomfort show up in about one in four users, compared to very few on placebo. Start low and see how you feel.
Can I take this if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
We don't have safety data on file for lemon during pregnancy or lactation. Since lemon as a food is generally safe in normal amounts, but we haven't studied medicinal doses in pregnancy, talk with your doctor or pharmacist to figure out what's right for you.
Does lemon powder actually work for hay fever, anxiety, or high blood pressure?
The evidence isn't strong enough to rate yet. We hold data on lemon for those uses, but all show insufficient reliable evidence. Your doctor can tell you whether it makes sense to try it alongside your current plan.
What's the inactive ingredient in here?
The powder contains maltodextrin, which is a filler used to help the powder flow and mix evenly. It's not an active ingredient in the product.
Is this the same as lemon essential oil?
No. This is lemon powder—a dried, ground form of the fruit. Essential oils are much more concentrated and haven't been well studied. Don't use them without your doctor's okay.
