HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Organic MCT Oil by Nature's Way
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Partial disclosure
This product contains 4 active ingredients. The main one we have data on is caprylic acid, a saturated fat found naturally in coconut oil and palm oil.
The other three — capric acid, medium chain triglycerides (a blend of medium-chain fats), polyunsaturated fat, and monounsaturated fat — round out the MCT (medium chain triglyceride) oil profile. There are also medium chain triglycerides listed as an inactive ingredient (excipient).
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The effectiveness data we hold for caprylic acid covers epilepsy and essential tremor, but the evidence isn't established — both are rated as having insufficient reliable evidence to rate. No other effectiveness claims are on file for the other ingredients in this product.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Caprylic acid is recognized as safe in food amounts, but supplement doses haven't been studied as thoroughly. Short-term, it's been well tolerated, with mild abdominal discomfort and change in taste perception reported most often.
Rare reports also mention mild dizziness, headache, and fatigue. Because caprylic acid occurs naturally in breast milk, concentrated supplements raise questions about safety during lactation — use only with your doctor's approval.
We don't have safety data on file for the other ingredients.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you start, double-check any blood thinners like warfarin (Coumadin), blood pressure medications, or NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen, others) — all carry Moderate severity interactions with caprylic acid in this product.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glancePartially disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This MCT oil product is mainly caprylic acid. If you take a blood thinner, blood pressure medication, or regular NSAIDs, check your exact medications before starting — the interactions are Moderate severity.
If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor or pharmacist first.

Organic MCT Oil by Nature's Way Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Nature's Way Organic MCT Oil contains caprylic acid, which has documented interactions with several medication types.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners like warfarin (Coumadin) — caprylic acid might increase how much warfarin stays in your bloodstream, which could raise your bleeding risk. This is a Moderate severity interaction based on lab research, though it hasn't been seen in actual patients yet.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Caprylic acid also interacts with blood pressure medications (antihypertensives) and over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen and naproxen (NSAIDs), both Moderate severity. With blood pressure drugs, caprylic acid might lower your pressure further.
With NSAIDs, it might increase how much of the medication lingers in your system. Again, these are theoretical risks from lab studies, not confirmed in people.
We couldn't check three other ingredients in this product — capric acid, polyunsaturated fat, and monounsaturated fat — because we hold no interaction data for them. Altogether, these interactions span 260 individual medications.
If you take any blood thinner, blood pressure medication, or regular NSAID, use the search tool below to check your exact drug before you start.

Caprylic Acid
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, caprylic acid might increase the risk of hypotension when used with antihypertensive drugs.
Animal research suggests that caprylic acid might have positive inotropic effects, resulting in reduced arterial pressure and vascular resistance and increased cardiac output.
Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (Nsaids)
Theoretically, caprylic acid might increase plasma concentrations of NSAIDs.
In vitro research suggests that caprylic acid might displace NSAIDs from binding sites on albumin. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Theoretically, caprylic acid might increase plasma concentrations of warfarin.
In vitro research suggests that high doses of caprylic acid might displace warfarin from albumin binding sites. This effect has not been reported in humans.
