What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: Pau d'Arco Glycerite Liquid Extract, a concentrated botanical extract from the pau d'arco tree. It's delivered in liquid form using glycerin as the inactive carrier.
You won't find added fillers or binders—the formula is straightforward.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence we hold for pau d'arco doesn't establish that it works for cancer, peptic ulcers, wound healing, or dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps). The research to date is insufficient to rate it as effective for any of these uses.
If you're considering it for a specific health goal, talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist about what the current science actually supports.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Pau d'arco is generally well tolerated at typical doses, but human safety data is limited and higher doses carry real risks. The lapachol compound, especially above 1.5 grams daily, may cause anemia, increased bleeding, severe nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
Occupational exposure to pau d'arco sawdust can trigger asthma and dermatitis—less relevant for the finished extract, but worth knowing. Do not take this during pregnancy; the safety data advises against it due to possible harm to the developing baby.
There isn't enough information to know if it's safe while breastfeeding, so avoid it then too. If you're pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using any pau d'arco product.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take any blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs—warfarin, dabigatran, apixaban, clopidogrel, aspirin, or similar—check with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product. The moderate risk of increased bleeding is something they need to weigh for your situation.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Pau d'Arco works as a liquid extract, but we don't yet have solid evidence it treats cancer, ulcers, wounds, or menstrual pain. If you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs, this product isn't for you without checking first—the bleeding risk is real.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding are off-limits. Run your medications through the checker below, and talk with your doctor or pharmacist before you start.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
