What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: potassium, a mineral your body needs for nerve and muscle function, including your heartbeat. The caplet also includes cellulose as an inactive ingredient.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
No effectiveness ratings are available in our data for potassium supplementation. Potassium's role in body function is well established, but we don't hold evidence on whether this specific dosage or form improves any particular health outcome.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Potassium from food is safe for everyone, but supplements are a different story. They're generally well tolerated when you take them by mouth, but they can cause high potassium levels (hyperkalemia) in some people—especially those with kidney disease—and that's dangerous.
Common side effects include abdominal pain, belching, diarrhea, gas, nausea, and vomiting. Rarely, high potassium can cause heart rhythm problems, low blood pressure, or confusion.
For pregnancy, dietary potassium is fine, but talk with your doctor before using a potassium supplement—the data advises they're likely safe, yet supplements need medical guidance during pregnancy. The same goes for breastfeeding: check with your doctor first.
If you have kidney disease, heart disease, or take a blood pressure or diuretic medication, you especially need to clear this with your own pharmacist or doctor before starting.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, make sure to check with your own doctor or pharmacist if you take potassium-sparing diuretics (water pills that keep potassium in your body), ACE inhibitors (blood pressure drugs), or angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs—another blood pressure drug class). All three raise your risk of dangerously high blood potassium.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This supplement is straightforward—one ingredient, potassium—but it's not a casual add-on. If you take any blood pressure medication, water pill, or have kidney problems, you need to check with your own doctor or pharmacist before starting.
Even if none of those apply, potassium levels matter, and this shouldn't be used without reason or without knowing your baseline potassium is low.

Potassium Caplets, 99 mg by Member's Mark Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Member's Mark Potassium Caplets interact with three major medication types—potassium-sparing diuretics, ACE inhibitors (a class of blood pressure drugs), and angiotensin receptor blockers (another blood pressure drug class)—all at moderate severity.
The main risk is high potassium levels in your blood (hyperkalemia), which can cause heart rhythm problems, weakness, or confusion.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Potassium-sparing diuretics (water pills that preserve potassium) are especially risky—using them together with this supplement raises your risk of dangerously high potassium. ACE inhibitors and ARBs both work by blocking a system that normally helps your kidneys clear potassium; adding a potassium supplement on top increases that risk significantly.
Alternative blood pressure or diuretic medications exist that don't carry this interaction, but you'll need to talk with your own doctor or pharmacist before starting, stopping, or switching any blood pressure medication or water pill. They can check your kidney function and current potassium level to see whether this supplement is safe for you.
Altogether, these interactions span 62 individual medications.

Potassium
Ace Inhibitors (Aceis)
Using ACEIs with high doses of potassium increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
ACEIs block the actions of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and reduce potassium excretion. Concomitant use of these drugs with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia. However, concomitant use of these drugs with moderate dietary potassium intake (about 3775-5200 mg daily) does not increase serum potassium levels.
Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (Arbs)
Using ARBs with high doses of potassium increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
ARBs block the actions of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and reduce potassium excretion. Concomitant use of these drugs with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia. However, concomitant use of these drugs with moderate dietary potassium intake (about 3775-5200 mg daily) does not increase serum potassium levels.
Potassium-Sparing Diuretics
Concomitant use increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
Using potassium-sparing diuretics with potassium supplements increases the risk of hyperkalemia.
