HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Power Mushrooms by Health Concerns
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
Power Mushrooms contains 4 active ingredients, all traditional fungi. The star is Red Ganoderma, also called reishi mushroom, a wood-decay fungus used in Asian herbalism.
The other actives are Poria sclerotium and Polyporus sclerotium (both forms of poria mushroom, used for digestive and immune support), and Tremella, another medicinal fungus. The remaining ingredients are inactive — vegetable gum, silicon dioxide, stearic acid, and cellulose — which help hold the tablet together.
Does it work?
Not established
The evidence we hold for these ingredients is quite limited. Red Ganoderma has been rated Possibly Ineffective for lowering cholesterol, and there isn't enough reliable evidence to rate it for altitude sickness, Alzheimer's disease, or athletic performance.
For Poria sclerotium and Polyporus sclerotium, the same story holds — we have insufficient evidence to rate them for cancer, chronic fatigue, dementia, diabetes, diabetic kidney disease, or diarrhea. We hold no effectiveness data for Tremella.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Red Ganoderma is generally well tolerated in the short term, but we don't have solid long-term safety data. You may experience dizziness, dry mouth, itching, nausea, rash, stomach upset, or rarely sore throat and runny nose.
Respiratory allergy to reishi spores can happen, and insomnia or headache are uncommon. Poria mushroom is generally well tolerated in traditional use, though human safety data are limited — rare allergic reactions like allergic rhinitis and allergic asthma have been reported.
The safety data advises against taking this product during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before you take Power Mushrooms, double-check with your pharmacist if you're on blood pressure medications (reishi may lower BP further), blood thinners or aspirin (especially at higher doses), sedatives or sleeping pills (poria may boost their effect), anticholinergic drugs like oxybutynin or benztropine, or cholinergic drugs. No interactions are documented for Tremella, but we couldn't check it.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Power Mushrooms is built on traditional mushroom ingredients with emerging research behind them, but the evidence for what they actually do is thin. The biggest reason to check with us first is if you take blood pressure pills, blood thinners, sedatives, or medications for bladder control or movement disorders.
If you're pregnant or nursing, skip this product — there isn't enough data to know it's safe.

Power Mushrooms by Health Concerns Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Power Mushrooms by Health Concerns contains ingredients with documented interactions, primarily with blood pressure and blood-thinning medications.
Red Ganoderma (reishi mushroom) is the most significant concern — it may increase the effects of antihypertensive drugs (blood pressure medications), raising the risk of dangerously low blood pressure. This is a Moderate-severity interaction.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Poria sclerotium and Polyporus sclerotium (both poria mushroom) interact with sedatives and drugs that affect brain chemistry. They may strengthen the sedative effect of sleeping pills and anti-anxiety medications.
Additionally, they may alter how anticholinergic drugs (used for muscle spasms, overactive bladder, and some movement disorders) and cholinergic drugs (used for myasthenia gravis and certain neurological conditions) work in your body — these interactions are all Moderate severity. Red Ganoderma also theoretically interacts with blood thinners at higher doses and with diabetes medications, though the clinical evidence is mixed.
We could not check Tremella because we hold no data for it. Altogether, these interactions span 767 individual medications.

Poria sclerotium
Anticholinergic Drugs
Theoretically, poria mushroom might decrease the clinical effects of anticholinergic drugs.
In animal research, poria mushroom essential oil reduces acetylcholinesterase activity. This interaction has not been shown in humans.
Cholinergic Drugs
Theoretically, poria mushroom might have additive effects when used with cholinergic drugs.
In animal research, poria mushroom essential oil reduces acetylcholinesterase activity. This interaction has not been shown in humans.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, taking poria mushroom extract may enhance the therapeutic and adverse effects of sedatives.
Animal research shows that poria mushroom extract has sedative properties. This interaction has not been shown in humans.
Red Ganoderma
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, high doses of reishi mushroom might increase the risk of bleeding.
A dose of 1.5 grams daily of reishi mushroom does not seem to decrease platelet aggregation, but a higher dose of 3 grams daily does.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, reishi mushroom might have additive effects with antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that reishi mushroom decreases blood sugar. However, in patients with type 2 diabetes, taking reishi mushroom does not reduce fasting glucose levels, and its effects on glycated hemoglobin are inconsistent.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, concurrent use of reishi mushroom with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Reishi mushroom has shown hypotensive activity in animal research. Clinical evidence suggests that reishi mushroom reduces blood pressure in some, but not all, patients with hypertension.
