Probiotic Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Probiotic against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Probiotic by Dr. Rico Perez
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This product contains five active probiotic strains: three Lactobacillus species (casei LC-11, rhamnosus LR-32, and acidophilus LA-14) and two Bifidobacterium species (animalis lactis Bi-07 and Bl-04). These are live beneficial bacteria meant to support digestive and gut health.
The capsule also contains inactive ingredients including microcrystalline cellulose, rice flour, cellulose, ascorbic acid, silicon dioxide, and magnesium stearate.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
For Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-14, the data shows it is possibly effective for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Helicobacter pylori infection, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and bacterial vaginosis. It's rated possibly ineffective for atopic disease, and we don't have enough reliable evidence to rate it for acute respiratory distress syndrome.
For the other four strains in this product, we have no effectiveness ratings on file.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Lactobacillus acidophilus is generally well tolerated in healthy adults and children. Minor gastrointestinal side effects — like stomach discomfort, bloating, gas, or diarrhea — can happen when taking this probiotic with other probiotics, though these are uncommon.
Because this product contains live microorganisms, there is a theoretical concern about infection in certain patients, though most documented cases appear linked to bacteria spreading from elsewhere in the body. Since the data are limited, check with your doctor or pharmacist before use.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Antibiotic drugs are the main medication type to double-check before taking this product — timing matters. We were unable to verify interaction data for four of the five probiotic strains, so ask your pharmacist to review your complete medication list.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with some supporting evidence for its stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This probiotic may help with IBS, antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and some other digestive issues. If you're on antibiotics, space out your doses.
The biggest thing to know is that we could only fully check one of the five strains here, so talk to your pharmacist about whether this specific product is right for you.

HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Dr.
Rico Perez Probiotic contains five probiotic strains, and we hold interaction data for one of them: Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-14. This ingredient may interact with antibiotic drugs.
Taking antibiotics and L. acidophilus at the same time could theoretically reduce how well the probiotic works, since antibiotics can kill the live organisms in the preparation.

Antibiotic Drugs
Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
