What’s inside

Low disclosure
Ingredient Transparency · database check
Low

Most active ingredients don't disclose an individual amount — you can't tell how much of each you're getting.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 0 of its 2 active ingredients.

RaspaMax contains two active ingredients: red raspberry leaf powder and black raspberry powder, both freeze-dried to concentrate their nutrients. That's it — there are no inactive fillers or binders listed in this product.

Does it work?

No specific claim
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
General wellness

This product is marketed for general wellness, not a specific health condition, so there's no single claim to grade against clinical evidence.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets general wellness (“antioxidant support and general wellness”), not a specific health condition, so there is no single claim to grade against clinical-evidence data.

The evidence for red raspberry doesn't yet support its use for aging skin, heart disease, respiratory infections, heart failure, or diabetes — the data we hold rates all of these as having insufficient reliable evidence. Black raspberry similarly lacks established evidence for oral cancer prevention, high blood pressure, prediabetes, or metabolic syndrome.

Neither ingredient's effectiveness for any of these conditions is confirmed in the monographs we reviewed.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 2 matched ingredients.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 2 of 2.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 2 of 2.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Red raspberry fruit and powder are generally well tolerated in typical doses, though a small number of people may experience diarrhea, stomach upset, or upper abdominal pain. One case of occupational asthma from inhaling the powder has been reported.

Black raspberry, eaten as a food, is likely safe; concentrated supplement forms of black raspberry are less well studied, so use caution with high-strength products. For pregnancy, red raspberry carries mixed safety ratings — some data suggest it's likely safe, others say possibly safe, and some label it likely unsafe.

Because the pregnancy safety evidence is unclear and conflicting, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you're pregnant. Black raspberry is rated likely safe in pregnancy and lactation, but red raspberry's safety while breastfeeding isn't established; there isn't enough data to know either way, so discuss it with your healthcare provider.

Moderate interaction found
Known Interaction Concern · database check
Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 2 matched ingredients can interact with medications — Red Raspberry.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs; diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 135 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking RaspaMax, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on any blood thinners (anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs like warfarin, clopidogrel, or aspirin) — red raspberry may raise your bleeding risk. If you take insulin or other diabetes medications, discuss it too, since red raspberry might lower your blood sugar.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure marketed for general wellness rather than one specific gradeable purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

RaspaMax is a simple two-ingredient powder, but red raspberry does interact with blood thinners and insulin — so if you take either of those drug types, check your specific medications against the interaction tool on this page before starting. Black raspberry adds no known interaction risk.

Neither ingredient has strong evidence behind it yet for the conditions they're sometimes used for, and safety data on concentrated supplements is limited. Talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist to see if it makes sense for you.

Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Theoretically, taking red raspberry leaf with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding.
In vitro research suggests that red raspberry leaf extract has antiplatelet activity and enhances the in vitro effects of the antiplatelet medication cangrelor. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Insulin

Red raspberry leaf might reduce glucose levels in patients being treated with insulin.
In one case report, a 38-year-old patient with gestational diabetes, whose blood glucose was being controlled with medical nutrition therapy and insulin, developed hypoglycemia after consuming two servings of raspberry leaf tea daily for 3 days beginning at 32 weeks' gestation. The patient required an insulin dose reduction. The hypoglycemia was considered to be probably related to use of red raspberry leaf tea.

Yes. Based on its ingredients, RaspaMax has a known interaction with 135 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
RaspaMax contains 2 active ingredients, and an interaction can come from any of them. We check every ingredient, combine the results into one list per medication, and show which ingredient and mechanism is responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Is RaspaMax safe to take while I'm pregnant?
Red raspberry has mixed safety data for pregnancy — some sources rate it likely safe, others possibly safe or possibly unsafe. Because the picture isn't clear, don't start it without talking to your doctor or midwife first. Black raspberry is rated likely safe while breastfeeding. Red raspberry's safety during breastfeeding isn't well established — there isn't enough data to know either way. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether it's right for you.
What does red raspberry actually do — does it work for any of these conditions?

Will RaspaMax cause side effects?
Red raspberry fruit and powder are generally well tolerated at normal doses, though some people report diarrhea, stomach upset, or upper belly pain. One case of asthma symptoms from inhaling the powder has been reported. Black raspberry has limited adverse effect data but is considered safe when eaten as food.
