Red Raspberry and Aspirin, Caffeine, Orphenadrine

ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS

Why this applies to Aspirin, Caffeine, Orphenadrine

Aspirin, Caffeine, Orphenadrine falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Red Raspberry interacts with.

Theoretically, taking red raspberry leaf with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding.
In vitro research suggests that red raspberry leaf extract has antiplatelet activity and enhances the in vitro effects of the antiplatelet medication cangrelor. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the piece to focus on with this combo product: the aspirin part. Aspirin is an antiplatelet drug, meaning it makes your platelets less sticky so your blood clots a little slower. Lab studies hint that red raspberry leaf may also have a mild blood-thinning, antiplatelet effect. Stacked together, the theory is they could nudge your bleeding risk up a bit, things like easier bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach upset and bleeding from the aspirin.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. It comes only from test-tube studies, and it has never actually been reported in people. The caffeine and orphenadrine pieces aren't part of this concern. A cup of raspberry tea is unlikely to matter much, but if you use concentrated supplements or take aspirin daily, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.
