ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Ibrutinib
Ibrutinib falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Red Raspberry interacts with.
In vitro research suggests that red raspberry leaf extract has antiplatelet activity and enhances the in vitro effects of the antiplatelet medication cangrelor. This interaction has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for Imbruvica (ibrutinib): this cancer medicine already carries a real risk of bleeding and easy bruising on its own. That's a known, common effect of how it works. Red raspberry leaf, mostly used as a tea, contains plant compounds that may have a mild blood-thinning, antiplatelet effect.
The worry is that stacking the two could add up and nudge your bleeding risk a little higher, showing up as more bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums. I'll be honest with you though: this is purely theoretical and comes only from lab studies, not from real people. An occasional cup of tea is unlikely to be a problem. Since you're on ibrutinib, just give your pharmacist or oncologist a heads-up before using it regularly.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ibrutinib page
“Ibrutinib (Imbruvica) treats blood cancers such as chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and because the drug itself makes bruising and bleeding more likely, adding the wrong supplement here can carry real consequences. Most of the entries below have blood-thinning or antiplatelet activity that stacks on top of that built-in bleeding risk.”
