Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: raspberry powder. The ingredient delivers the compounds found in red raspberry fruit and leaf, with no added inactive ingredients listed.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Red Raspberry product and its label doesn't state a use — see Red Raspberry's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence we hold for red raspberry doesn't establish effectiveness for aging skin, cardiovascular disease, respiratory tract infections, congestive heart failure, or diabetes. The data we have rates all these uses as insufficient reliable evidence to rate—meaning the studies either aren't robust enough or aren't there yet to make a confident claim either way.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Red raspberry is generally well tolerated by most adults, though the overall safety evidence is limited. Most people don't experience side effects at typical doses, but gastrointestinal upset, diarrhea, and epigastric pain (discomfort in the upper abdomen) can occur.

One occupational case of asthma-like symptoms—wheezing and shortness of breath—was reported from inhaling the powder, though this is rare. In pregnancy, the safety data shows mixed ratings: the ingredient is rated both likely safe and possibly safe, so talk it over with your doctor or midwife for personalized guidance.

There isn't enough reliable data to confirm safety while breastfeeding—bring it up with your healthcare provider if you're nursing.

  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs; diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 135 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking this product, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take blood thinners (anticoagulants or antiplatelets like warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel) or insulin. Both carry a Moderate risk of interaction with red raspberry.

Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Theoretically, taking red raspberry leaf with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding.
In vitro research suggests that red raspberry leaf extract has antiplatelet activity and enhances the in vitro effects of the antiplatelet medication cangrelor. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Insulin

Red raspberry leaf might reduce glucose levels in patients being treated with insulin.
In one case report, a 38-year-old patient with gestational diabetes, whose blood glucose was being controlled with medical nutrition therapy and insulin, developed hypoglycemia after consuming two servings of raspberry leaf tea daily for 3 days beginning at 32 weeks' gestation. The patient required an insulin dose reduction. The hypoglycemia was considered to be probably related to use of red raspberry leaf tea.
