Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: red raspberry powder (certified organic). Red raspberry leaf has a long history in herbal use, though what it actually does in your body is still being studied.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Red Raspberry product and its label doesn't state a use — see Red Raspberry's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence we hold doesn't establish that red raspberry leaf works for aging skin, heart disease, respiratory infections, heart failure, or diabetes. For all these uses, the data rates as insufficient reliable evidence—meaning the research just isn't there yet to say whether it helps.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Red raspberry is generally well tolerated by most adults when taken by mouth, though safety data is limited overall. The most common side effects are mild—diarrhea, stomach upset, and upper abdominal pain—but these don't typically happen at usual doses.

There's one case report of occupational asthma (wheezing and shortness of breath) from inhaling red raspberry powder, though that's rare. Pregnancy and breastfeeding data are mixed.

The safety evidence for late pregnancy use isn't well established, so if you're pregnant or thinking about it, check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this. For breastfeeding, there isn't enough reliable information to know either way—talk with your healthcare provider about whether it's right for you.

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Red Raspberry.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs; diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 135 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before you take this, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on blood thinners (like warfarin or aspirin) or insulin. Red raspberry leaf may increase bleeding risk with anticoagulants/antiplatelets and may lower blood sugar with insulin—both Moderate concerns.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Red raspberry leaf powder is generally well tolerated, but it does interact with blood thinners and insulin in ways that could matter. If you take either of those—or any other prescription medication—check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Insulin

Red raspberry leaf might reduce glucose levels in patients being treated with insulin.
In one case report, a 38-year-old patient with gestational diabetes, whose blood glucose was being controlled with medical nutrition therapy and insulin, developed hypoglycemia after consuming two servings of raspberry leaf tea daily for 3 days beginning at 32 weeks' gestation. The patient required an insulin dose reduction. The hypoglycemia was considered to be probably related to use of red raspberry leaf tea.
