Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: red raspberry leaf powder. Red raspberry leaf is the dried leaves of the raspberry plant, traditionally used to support various aspects of health, though the evidence for most of those uses isn't yet established in our data.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Red Raspberry product and its label doesn't state a use — see Red Raspberry's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The effectiveness of red raspberry leaf for aging skin, heart health, respiratory infections, heart failure, and diabetes is rated as insufficient evidence to establish. That means research so far hasn't shown convincing proof that it works for these purposes, but it also doesn't mean it doesn't work—just that we need more solid data.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Red raspberry leaf is generally well tolerated by most adults, though safety evidence is limited. The most common side effects reported with oral use are diarrhea, gastrointestinal upset, and stomach pain, though these don't typically happen at standard doses.

One case of occupational asthma (wheezing and shortness of breath) was reported from inhaling raspberry powder dust, but that's an uncommon exposure. Pregnancy and breastfeeding data are mixed.

Safety during late pregnancy is not well established—talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using it if you're pregnant. For breastfeeding, there isn't enough reliable information to know whether it's safe, so discuss this with your healthcare provider for personalized advice.

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Red Raspberry.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs; diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 135 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking this product, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you're on blood thinners (anticoagulants) or antiplatelet medications—red raspberry leaf may theoretically increase bleeding risk. Also confirm your blood sugar plan if you take insulin, since red raspberry leaf might lower glucose levels and cause low blood sugar.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Insulin

Red raspberry leaf might reduce glucose levels in patients being treated with insulin.
In one case report, a 38-year-old patient with gestational diabetes, whose blood glucose was being controlled with medical nutrition therapy and insulin, developed hypoglycemia after consuming two servings of raspberry leaf tea daily for 3 days beginning at 32 weeks' gestation. The patient required an insulin dose reduction. The hypoglycemia was considered to be probably related to use of red raspberry leaf tea.
