Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: wildcrafted red raspberry leaf at 500 mg per capsule. Red raspberry leaf is the dried leaves of the red raspberry plant, traditionally used in herbal medicine.

The capsule itself is plant-derived, so there are no animal-based capsule materials here.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

This is a single-ingredient Red Raspberry product and its label doesn't state a use — see Red Raspberry's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • We looked at the product name, claims, and label statements and couldn't find a stated purpose to grade.

The evidence we have for red raspberry leaf is limited. The data shows insufficient reliable evidence to rate it for aging skin, heart disease, respiratory tract infections, heart failure, or diabetes.

In other words, we don't yet have strong studies backing up claims for those uses. If you're considering this supplement for a specific health goal, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about what the science actually supports.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Red raspberry leaf is generally well tolerated by most adults, though the overall safety data is limited. The most common side effects — when they do occur — are diarrhea, stomach upset, and upper abdominal pain, though these are not typical at normal doses.

One occupational case of asthma-like symptoms (wheezing and shortness of breath) was reported in a worker inhaling the powder, but that's not a concern with capsules taken by mouth. For pregnancy, the safety data is mixed: red raspberry leaf is rated likely safe or possibly safe, though it's sometimes used late in pregnancy, safety isn't well established — so if you're pregnant or planning pregnancy, talk with your doctor or midwife first.

We don't have enough data to know if it's safe while breastfeeding, so check with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice on that too.

Moderate interaction found
Known Interaction Concern · database check
Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Red Raspberry.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs; diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 135 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Two medication types warrant a conversation with your doctor or pharmacist before you start: blood thinners (anticoagulants and antiplatelets) and insulin. Both carry a Moderate interaction risk with red raspberry leaf.

Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Theoretically, taking red raspberry leaf with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bleeding.
In vitro research suggests that red raspberry leaf extract has antiplatelet activity and enhances the in vitro effects of the antiplatelet medication cangrelor. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Insulin

Red raspberry leaf might reduce glucose levels in patients being treated with insulin.
In one case report, a 38-year-old patient with gestational diabetes, whose blood glucose was being controlled with medical nutrition therapy and insulin, developed hypoglycemia after consuming two servings of raspberry leaf tea daily for 3 days beginning at 32 weeks' gestation. The patient required an insulin dose reduction. The hypoglycemia was considered to be probably related to use of red raspberry leaf tea.
