HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Saffron Pure by Nutra Pure
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Saffron Pure has 4 ingredients total. The active ones are Forskolin (from Coleus), White Kidney Bean extract, and Satiereal Saffron Extract.
Forskolin is a compound from the coleus plant used traditionally for heart and lung function; White Kidney Bean extract is believed to affect carbohydrate absorption; and Saffron Extract is the concentrated form of the saffron spice, sometimes studied for mood and nerve-related concerns. The capsules also contain inactive ingredients: gelatin (capsule material), calcium carbonate, and magnesium stearate (a binder and lubricant).
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence for Saffron Pure's ingredients is limited. Satiereal Saffron Extract is rated possibly effective for chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (nerve pain from cancer treatment) and Alzheimer disease, though the data remain preliminary.
Forskolin has insufficient reliable evidence for the conditions it's been studied in — angina, asthma, cancer, heart failure, eczema, and dry eye — meaning we don't yet know whether it works for these uses. We hold no effectiveness data for White Kidney Bean extract.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Forskolin is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth, though it can cause constipation, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting; diarrhea is the most common, reported in a small number of trial participants. Because Forskolin may lower blood pressure and long-term safety isn't well established, it should be used only with professional guidance.
Saffron Extract is also generally well tolerated at supplement doses, though it may cause gastrointestinal upset, nausea, sedation, or vomiting. Rare serious reactions include anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction).
At higher doses saffron can trigger anxiety or mood changes. During pregnancy, Forskolin is rated possibly unsafe and Saffron Extract is rated likely unsafe — saffron may stimulate the uterus.
We hold no breastfeeding safety data for Saffron Extract, and Forskolin is rated unsafe while breastfeeding. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product if you're pregnant or nursing.
Meds to double-check
Major interaction found
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before using Saffron Pure if you take any of these: nitrate heart medications or calcium channel blockers (Major risk of excessive blood vessel dilation); blood pressure medications, blood thinners, antiplatelet drugs like aspirin, warfarin, or diabetes medications (Moderate risk of reduced blood pressure, increased bleeding, or low blood sugar); drugs that your liver metabolizes via CYP2C9 or CYP3A4 enzymes; sedating medications including sleep aids and anxiety drugs; or caffeine supplements. No interactions are documented for the White Kidney Bean extract or the proprietary blend we could check.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Major medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Saffron Pure may be worth considering if you're interested in saffron's preliminary research for nerve pain or memory, but the evidence remains limited and it carries real interaction risks. If you take heart medications (especially nitrates or calcium channel blockers), blood pressure drugs, blood thinners, diabetes medications, or sedating drugs, clear this product with your doctor or pharmacist first — the interactions are serious enough to warrant a personalized conversation.
Avoid it during pregnancy or breastfeeding without medical guidance.

Saffron Pure by Nutra Pure Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Saffron Pure by Nutra Pure contains two ingredients with documented interactions: Forskolin and Satiereal Saffron Extract.
The most serious concern is Major-severity interaction with nitrates (heart medications that dilate blood vessels) and calcium channel blockers (another class of heart medication) — both through the Forskolin component, which may amplify their effects on blood vessels and could lower your blood pressure dangerously.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Forskholin also interacts at Moderate severity with blood pressure medications, blood thinners and antiplatelet drugs (increasing bleeding risk), and drugs metabolized by two liver enzymes (CYP2C9 and CYP3A4), which may affect how those medications work. Warfarin (Coumadin), the blood thinner, deserves special mention because Forskolin's effect on the enzyme that breaks it down is conflicting—it may speed up or slow down warfarin metabolism, either making it less protective or causing over-thinning.
Satiereal Saffron Extract adds Moderate-severity interactions with sedating medications (CNS depressants), blood pressure drugs, blood sugar medications, and caffeine. The blood sugar interaction is worth noting: saffron may increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) when combined with diabetes medications.
Altogether, these interactions span 1,133 individual medications.
White Kidney Bean extract and the proprietary blend could not be checked against our data. Use the medication search tool below to verify your exact prescriptions before starting this product, and talk it over with your doctor or pharmacist if you take any heart, blood pressure, blood thinner, diabetes, or sleep medications.

For each ingredient in Saffron Pure with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Forskolin
Calcium Channel Blockers
Theoretically, combining coleus with calcium channel blockers might increase the coronary vasodilatory effects.
Forskolin, a constituent of coleus, and calcium channel blockers both cause coronary vasodilatory effects.
Nitrates
Theoretically, combining coleus with nitrates might increase the coronary vasodilatory effects.
Forskolin, a constituent of coleus, and nitrates both cause coronary vasodilatory effects.
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of coleus and anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs might increase the risk of bruising and bleeding.
In vitro and animal research shows that forskolin, a constituent of coleus, can inhibit platelet aggregation and adhesion.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, combining coleus with antihypertensive drugs might cause additive blood pressure lowering effects and increase the risk of hypotension.
Animal research shows that forskolin, a constituent of coleus, may lower blood pressure.
Cytochrome P450 2C9 (Cyp2C9) Substrates
Theoretically, taking coleus may affect drugs metabolized by CYP2C9 and increase the risk of adverse effects or reduce the effectiveness.
Research on the effect of coleus on CYP2C9 is conflicting. Some animal research shows that coleus extract can induce CYP2C9, while in vitro research shows that coleus can inhibit CYP2C9. Until more is known, advise patients that taking coleus might increase or decrease levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, taking coleus might decrease serum levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that coleus can activate the nuclear receptor, pregnane X receptor (PXR), which results in increased expression of CYP3A4. Although the clinical significance of this is not known, use caution when considering concomitant use of coleus and other drugs affected by these enzymes.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Theoretically, taking coleus may affect the metabolism of warfarin and increase the risk of adverse effects or reduce the effectiveness.
Some animal research shows that coleus extract can induce cytochrome P450 2C9 (CYP2C9), an enzyme that metabolizes warfarin. However, other in vitro research shows that coleus can inhibit CYP2C9. Theoretically, taking coleus with drugs metabolized by CYP2C9 might affect drug levels and the risk of adverse effects. Until more is known, advise patients that taking coleus might increase or decrease levels of warfarin.
Satiereal Saffron Extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of saffron with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Some clinical research shows that taking saffron extract reduces fasting levels of glucose when used in addition to hypoglycemic agents. However, saffron powder itself has not been shown to reduce fasting glucose levels.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, concomitant use of saffron with antihypertensive drugs might have additive effects.
Animal and human research suggests that saffron extract can decrease blood pressure.
Caffeine
Theoretically, saffron might inhibit the metabolism of caffeine.
A small clinical study suggests that taking saffron powder 300 mg in 150 mL water daily for 5 days and then taking caffeine 200 mg seems to reduce caffeine metabolite levels in the saliva and urine in males, but not females. Theoretically, this may be due to the inhibition of cytochrome P450 1A2 by saffron.
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, concomitant use of saffron and CNS depressants might have additive sedative effects.
Clinical research shows that taking saffron extract 60 mg orally daily for 26 weeks can cause drowsiness and sedation. Animal research suggests that adding saffron to hexobarbital further increases sleeping and slows motor activity.
