What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Stevia against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Stevia by plnt
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
This liquid contains one active ingredient: stevia leaf extract, a zero-calorie sweetener derived from the stevia plant. Stevia leaf extract has been studied for potential effects on blood sugar, blood pressure, and weight, though the evidence remains limited.
The product also contains two inactive ingredients — vegetable glycerin and deionized water — which serve as the liquid base and carrier.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for stevia's effectiveness isn't established in our data. We hold ratings of insufficient reliable evidence for its use in diabetes management, high blood pressure, and weight loss.
While some small studies suggest stevia might lower blood sugar or blood pressure in certain settings, other research doesn't show a significant effect. More robust clinical trials are needed before we can say whether it works for these purposes.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Purified stevia in the amounts typical of food and beverages is generally well tolerated. Most people who take it experience no problems, or only minor side effects like bloating, dizziness, headache, muscle aches, nausea, or numbness — and these usually go away within the first week.
Allergic reactions are rare but possible. Because this is a supplement dose rather than a food amount, safety data are limited.
Use caution, especially if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking other medications. The safety information on file doesn't specify whether stevia is safe or unsafe during pregnancy or breastfeeding — talk with your doctor or pharmacist for personalized advice if you're in either situation.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take lithium (especially important — this is a Moderate interaction), any blood pressure medication, or any diabetes medication. No other medication interactions are documented for the ingredients we hold data on.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Stevia by plnt is a zero-calorie sweetener that's generally well tolerated in typical amounts. However, if you take lithium, blood pressure medication, or diabetes medication, you'll want to check the interaction tool on this page or confirm with your own doctor or pharmacist before adding it — the effects on those drugs aren't certain but deserve a closer look at your specific situation.

Stevia by plnt Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Stevia by plnt can interact with certain medications through its stevia leaf extract.
The most serious interaction is with lithium (a mood-stabilizing medication), where stevia might theoretically reduce how your body clears it and raise lithium levels to potentially unsafe amounts — this is a Moderate concern.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Stevia may also interact with blood pressure medications (antihypertensive drugs) and diabetes medications. With blood pressure drugs, there's a Minor risk that stevia could lower your blood pressure further than intended.
With diabetes medications, there's a Minor risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) if stevia is combined with drugs that already lower blood sugar, though research on this effect is mixed.
Altogether, these interactions span 259 individual medications. If you take lithium, any blood pressure medication, or any diabetes medication, run your specific drugs through the interaction checker below before starting this product.

For each ingredient in Stevia with known interactions, here are the types of medications it can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
Stevia leaf extract
Lithium
Theoretically, stevia might decrease clearance and increase levels of lithium.
Animal research suggests that stevia extracts might have diuretic activity. Theoretically, increased reabsorption of lithium along with sodium might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, stevia might increase the risk for hypoglycemia when combined with antidiabetes drugs.
Preliminary clinical research in patients with type 2 diabetes suggests that taking a single dose of stevia extract 1000 mg reduces postprandial blood glucose levels when taken with a meal. However, other clinical research in patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes suggests that taking stevioside 250 mg three times daily does not significantly affect blood glucose levels or glycated hemoglobin (HbA1C) after three months of treatment.
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, combining stevia or stevia constituents with antihypertensive agents might increase the risk of hypotension.
Stevia extract and stevioside might lower blood pressure in patients with hypertension. However, other clinical research suggests that stevioside does not significantly lower blood pressure in patients with hypertension.
