HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Sturdy Organic Bone Supplement by Khroma Herbal Products
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This liquid supplement contains 8 active plant ingredients: organic Plantain, organic Marshmallow, organic Mullein, organic Gravel, organic Comfrey, organic Lungwort, organic Black Walnut, and organic Scullcap. The inactive ingredients are organic Vegetable Glycerin and Water.
We don't have effectiveness data in our files for most of these ingredients toward bone health. The product's name suggests it's meant to support bone strength, but the evidence we hold doesn't establish whether these specific plants work for that purpose.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence supporting these ingredients for bone health isn't established in the data we hold. For several of them — Marshmallow, Mullein, Comfrey, Lungwort, Black Walnut, and Scullcap — our records show insufficient reliable evidence to rate their use for any condition.
Without established effectiveness data, we can't speak to whether this formula does what the name suggests.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Comfrey is the major safety red flag here. Oral use of comfrey is unsafe due to liver toxicity — it can cause ascites (fluid buildup), cirrhosis, hepatic fibrosis, and in severe cases, liver failure.
This damage can appear as late as 2 years after use ends. Comfrey can also damage the lungs, raising blood pressure in those vessels.
Marshmallow and Mullein are generally well tolerated for short-term use, but human safety data are limited. Black Walnut's leaf, bark, or hull may cause stomach upset due to tannin content, and both the nut and other parts can trigger allergic reactions in sensitive people — tree nuts are a major food allergen.
Scullcap may cause sedation, cognitive impairment, digestive upset, and vivid dreams at higher doses. None of these ingredients have adequate safety data for pregnancy or breastfeeding — all are best avoided in those situations.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this supplement, check with your pharmacist if you take any of these: hepatotoxic drugs or any medication that stresses your liver (Moderate severity, due to Comfrey); lithium or other mood stabilizers (Moderate severity, due to Marshmallow); blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs like warfarin or aspirin (Minor severity, due to Mullein); or CNS depressants such as benzodiazepines, sedatives, or opioid painkillers (Minor severity, due to Scullcap). We could not check Plantain or Gravel against any medications.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This product carries real risks, especially from Comfrey, which shouldn't be taken by mouth. If you take lithium, other medications that affect your liver, blood thinners, or sedating drugs, check with your pharmacist before using it.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding are not appropriate times for this supplement. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor about whether this product is right for your needs.

Sturdy Organic Bone Supplement by Khroma Herbal Products Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Sturdy Organic Bone Supplement by Khroma Herbal Products is a liquid formula with several ingredients that do interact with medications.
The most serious concern is organic Comfrey, which can damage your liver when combined with hepatotoxic drugs (medications that stress the liver). Comfrey itself is considered unsafe to take by mouth due to liver toxicity from compounds called pyrrolizidine alkaloids, and this risk compounds if you're already on a drug that affects liver function.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
The product also contains organic Marshmallow, which interacts with lithium (a mood stabilizer) at a Moderate severity level — it may reduce how your body clears lithium, raising its levels and risking toxicity. Marshmallow may also interfere with how your body absorbs other oral medications if taken at the same time.
Organic Mullein and organic Scullcap each have Minor interactions: Mullein may add to the blood-thinning effects of anticoagulants or antiplatelet drugs, and Scullcap can add to the sedating effects of CNS depressants (such as benzodiazepines, opioids, or sleep aids).
We could not check organic Plantain and organic Gravel — no data are on file for them. Organic Lungwort and organic Black Walnut have no interactions documented in our data, though we hold limited safety information for both.
Always check your exact medications with the search tool on this page before starting.

For each ingredient in Sturdy Organic Bone Supplement with known interactions, here are the types of medications they can affect. Open any type for the detail — or search your exact drug in the checker above.
organic Marshmallow
Lithium
Theoretically, due to potential diuretic effects, marshmallow might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium.
Marshmallow is thought to have diuretic properties. To avoid lithium toxicity, the dose of lithium might need to be decreased when used with marshmallow.
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, marshmallow flower might have antiplatelet effects.
Animal research suggests that marshmallow flower extract has antiplatelet effects. However, the root and leaf of marshmallow, not the flower, are the plant parts most commonly found in dietary supplements. Theoretically, use of marshmallow flower with anticoagulant/antiplatelet drugs can have additive effects, and might increase the risk for bleeding in some patients.
Oral Drugs
Theoretically, mucilage in marshmallow might impair absorption of oral drugs.
Marshmallow contains mucilage which can affect oral drug absorption. To avoid changes in absorption, take marshmallow 30-60 minutes after oral medications.
organic Comfrey
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Inducers
Theoretically, CYP3A4 inducers might increase the risk of adverse effects from the pyrrolizidine alkaloid constituents in comfrey.
CYP3A4 enzymes convert pyrrolizidine alkaloids, constituents of comfrey, to toxic metabolites. Some case reports show that enzyme inducers, such as phenobarbital, seem to enhance the toxicity of comfrey.
Hepatotoxic Drugs
Theoretically, comfrey might have additive adverse effects on the liver when used with hepatotoxic drugs.
Due to its pyrrolizidine alkaloid constituents, comfrey can cause hepatotoxic effects, including ascites, cirrhosis, hepatic fibrosis, hepatomegaly, and sinusoidal obstruction syndrome.
organic Scullcap
Cns Depressants
Theoretically, skullcap can have additive effects when used with other CNS depressants.
Animal and clinical research suggests that skullcap can cause sedation and cognitive impairment.
organic Mullein
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Lab tests on extracts from different parts of common and dense-flowered mullein plants show that they do have some blood-thinning effects, as they increase the time it takes for blood to clot. This is likely due to at least one of the known constituents of muellein, triterpenoid saponins. However, the effects appear to be mild and results have been inconsistent. Extracts from different plant parts have been show to have varying anticoagulant strengths, with water-based ones being more potent than alcohol-based extracts.
