What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Super Bee against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Super Bee by DC
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Full disclosure
Super Bee is a 4-ingredient capsule built around bee products. You're getting royal jelly, honey, bee pollen, and bee propolis — all active ingredients that beekeepers harvest from the hive.
They're combined in a capsule made of gelatin and vegetable cellulose, with a few inactive ingredients like magnesium stearate and silica to keep everything stable.
Does it work?
Moderate evidence
The evidence varies widely. Honey shows the strongest support — it's possibly effective for cold sores, cough, mouth sores (oral mucositis), burns, and dry eye.
Royal jelly is possibly effective for menopausal symptoms but possibly ineffective for hay fever, athletic performance, and diabetes. Propolis is possibly effective for mouth sores and cold sores, and possibly effective for diabetes, but the evidence for bee pollen as a performance booster or allergy remedy isn't established in our data.
For several other uses listed in the ingredient research — like benign prostate enlargement and amenorrhea — the evidence just isn't there yet.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
All four ingredients are generally well tolerated by most people, but allergic reactions are the main safety flag. Bee pollen and royal jelly carry the highest risk: in people with asthma or a history of allergies to pollen or bee products, they can trigger serious reactions including anaphylaxis and even death — though that's rare.
Propolis and honey can also trigger allergies, and honey from Turkey's Black Sea coast has caused poisoning from a toxin in some batches. Royal jelly also has rare reports of severe bowel inflammation.
During pregnancy, royal jelly and bee pollen lack enough safety data and are best avoided; propolis is the same. Honey is likely safe in pregnancy.
For breastfeeding, honey is fine, but the others don't have enough data, so it's best to avoid them.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking this product, double-check any blood thinners (anticoagulants) you take — warfarin is the main concern, but propolis theoretically affects other antiplatelet drugs too. Blood pressure medications are a second priority with royal jelly.
If you take seizure medication (phenytoin), any drug that goes through your liver for breakdown, or multiple medications metabolized by liver enzymes (CYP2C19, CYP2D6, CYP1A2, CYP2C9, CYP3A4, or CYP2E1), run them through the interaction checker below.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with some supporting evidence behind its ingredients' uses. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Super Bee is worth considering if you're looking for support with cold sores, cough, mouth sores, or menopausal symptoms — the honey and propolis have evidence behind them. But if you take any blood thinners, blood pressure medications, seizure medication, or any drug your liver metabolizes, you need to check your exact medications before starting.
Anyone with bee allergies, asthma, or pollen sensitivities should skip it entirely. Talk to your pharmacist before you begin.

Super Bee by DC Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Super Bee by DC contains four bee-derived ingredients, and they do interact with medications.
The most serious concern is with blood thinners like warfarin (Coumadin): royal jelly, bee pollen, and propolis can all theoretically increase your bleeding risk. Royal jelly also carries a Moderate risk of lowering blood pressure too much if you're already on blood pressure medication.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Honey and propolis can affect how your body breaks down certain drugs through the liver — propolis is a bigger concern here, with theoretical risks involving five different enzyme systems (CYP2C19, CYP2D6, CYP1A2, CYP2C9, and CYP3A4 substrates). Honey may theoretically increase levels of the seizure medication phenytoin (Dilantin) and could theoretically increase bleeding risk with blood thinners, though that evidence is weaker.
Bee pollen and propolis may also interact with other anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs beyond warfarin, and propolis might decrease warfarin's effectiveness — the opposite problem.
Altogether, these interactions span 1,025 individual medications. Because this product touches so many drug pathways, it's important to check your exact medications with the search tool on this page before you start.

Bee Propolis
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, propolis might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with antiplatelet or anticoagulant drugs.
In vitro research shows that propolis water extract and the propolis constituent, caffeic acid phenethyl ester, can inhibit platelet aggregation. Additionally, evidence from an animal model shows that taking propolis in addition to warfarin decreases INR, suggesting that propolis can decrease the effectiveness of warfarin.
Cytochrome P450 1A2 (Cyp1A2) Substrates
Theoretically, high doses of propolis might increase blood levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro research shows that propolis extract can inhibit CYP1A2. However, animal research shows that propolis extract does not significantly affect CYP1A2 activity when administered to rats at doses up to 250 mg/kg. It is postulated that the constituents of propolis that inhibit CYP1A2 in vitro do not have significant effects in vivo due to low bioavailability and hepatic first-pass effect. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2C19 (Cyp2C19) Substrates
Theoretically, high doses of propolis might increase blood levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19.
In vitro research shows that propolis extract can inhibit CYP2C19. However, animal research shows that propolis extract does not significantly affect CYP2C19 activity when administered to rats at doses up to 250 mg/kg. It is postulated that the constituents of propolis that inhibit CYP2C19 in vitro do not have significant effects in vivo due to low bioavailability and hepatic first-pass effect. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2C9 (Cyp2C9) Substrates
Theoretically, high doses of propolis might increase blood levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9.
In vitro research shows that propolis extract can inhibit CYP2C9. However, animal research shows that propolis extract does not significantly affect CYP2C9 activity when administered to rats at doses up to 250 mg/kg. It is postulated that the constituents of propolis that inhibit CYP2C9 in vitro do not have significant effects in vivo due to low bioavailability and hepatic first-pass effect. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2D6 (Cyp2D6) Substrates
Theoretically, high doses of propolis might increase blood levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro research shows that propolis extract can inhibit CYP2D6. However, animal research shows that propolis extract does not significantly affect CYP2D6 activity when administered to rats at doses up to 250 mg/kg. It is postulated that the constituents of propolis that inhibit CYP2D6 in vitro do not have significant effects in vivo due to low bioavailability and hepatic first-pass effect. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 2E1 (Cyp2E1) Substrates
Theoretically, propolis might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2E1.
In vitro research shows that propolis can inhibit CYP2E1. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, high doses of propolis might increase blood levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Some in vitro research shows that propolis extract can inhibit CYP3A4; however, other in vitro research shows that propolis has no effect on CYP3A4 activity. Furthermore, animal research shows that propolis extract does not significantly affect CYP3A4 activity when administered to rats at doses up to 250 mg/kg. It is postulated that the constituents of propolis that might in inhibit CYP3A4 in vitro do not have significant effects in vivo due to low bioavailability and hepatic first-pass effect. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Theoretically, propolis might decrease the effectiveness of warfarin.
Animal research shows that taking propolis in addition to warfarin decreases the international normalized ratio (INR). This effect has not been reported in humans.
Honey
Phenytoin (Dilantin)
Theoretically, honey might increase levels of phenytoin.
In an animal model, the rate and extent of absorption of phenytoin was increased by honey. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, honey may increase the risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro, honey inhibits platelet aggregation and increases the time to clotting. Furthermore, animal research suggests that feeding mice large doses of honey for 12 days increases bleeding time when compared with no intervention. However, these effects have not been reported in humans.
Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates
Theoretically, honey might decrease levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4, but research is conflicting.
Some clinical research shows that honey induces CYP3A4. However, other clinical studies found no effect on CYP3A4 activity. Different honey preparations may have different effects on CYP3A4.
Royal Jelly
Antihypertensive Drugs
Theoretically, royal jelly might increase the risk of hypotension when taken with antihypertensive drugs.
Animal research suggests that royal jelly might lower blood pressure.
Warfarin (Coumadin)
Royal jelly might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with warfarin.
In one case, an 87-year-old male who was previously stabilized on warfarin developed hematuria and was found to have an INR of 7.29 after taking a royal jelly supplement for one week.
Bee Pollen
Warfarin (Coumadin)
There is some concern that bee pollen might interact with warfarin and increase the risk of bleeding.
In one case report, a patient on warfarin had a stable international normalized ratio (INR) of 1.9-3.3 for 9 months. The patient's INR was found to be 7.1 after starting bee pollen granules one teaspoon twice daily for approximately one month. The patient's warfarin dose was decreased by approximately 11% in order to return the INR to the therapeutic range while continuing the bee pollen supplement.
