Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
This tea blend contains six ingredients, two of which are blends themselves. The active components come from two varieties of tulsi (Krishna Tulsi and Rama Tulsi, also called holy basil), plus black currant.
Organic hibiscus, Vana Tulsi, and organic elderberries round out the formula. The flavor comes from organic raspberry and peach.
Does it work?
No specific claim
The evidence for holy basil is not established in the data we hold. It's been studied for generalized anxiety, asthma, headache, respiratory infections, dental plaque, and diabetes, but all those uses are rated as having insufficient reliable evidence.
Black currant has been studied for Alzheimer's disease, liver disease, upper respiratory infections, cough, and eczema, and those too lack sufficient evidence. In short, we don't have reliable data showing this blend works for any particular condition.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Holy basil is generally well tolerated short-term, but long-term safety data are limited. The most common side effects are loose stools and nausea—a small number of trial participants reported these.
Black currant berries are safe as food, but concentrated supplements in this tea are less studied. A very small number of people taking black currant seed oil reported mild diarrhea 2 to 10 days after starting.
Avoid this product during pregnancy and while breastfeeding: animal data raise concerns for holy basil, and human safety is not established for either holy basil or black currant in these situations.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Double-check your medications if you take blood thinners (anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs)—holy basil and black currant may increase bleeding risk. If you're on diabetes medications, watch for low blood sugar symptoms.
Pentobarbital users and anyone taking phenothiazines should discuss this product with their pharmacist or doctor first.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure marketed for general wellness rather than one specific gradeable purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
This tea is aimed at relaxation and wellness, but the evidence doesn't yet show it works for any specific condition. If you take blood thinners, diabetes medications, pentobarbital, or phenothiazines, check your exact medications with us before starting—these interactions are real concerns.
Holy basil isn't recommended in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Talk with your pharmacist about whether this blend fits your routine.

Tulsi Raspberry Peach by Organic India Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Organic India's Tulsi Raspberry Peach contains two holy basil varieties (Krishna Tulsi and Rama Tulsi) and black currant, all of which have documented interactions with medications.
The most serious concern is a Moderate-severity interaction with blood thinners (anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs): holy basil seed oil may increase bleeding risk, and black currant seed oil appears to have similar antiplatelet effects. Animal studies show prolonged bleeding time, though human data are limited.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
If you take diabetes medications, be aware that holy basil can lower blood sugar levels—small studies show it reduces fasting glucose and other blood-sugar markers. This could raise the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
Holy basil seed oil also theoretically increases the sedative effects of pentobarbital (a barbiturate); whether this applies to other sedatives or occurs in humans isn't yet established.
Black currant seed oil carries a Moderate-severity theoretical risk of lowering seizure threshold when combined with phenothiazines (a class of older psychiatric medications), though no direct evidence of this exists in humans. We were unable to check organic hibiscus, Vana Tulsi, or organic elderberries—no interaction data are on file for those.
Altogether, these interactions span 229 individual medications. Please use the medication checker below with your exact prescriptions before you start.

organic Tulsi (Holy Basil) Blend
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, holy basil seed oil might increase the risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Animal research shows that holy basil seed oil can prolong bleeding time, possibly due to inhibition of platelet aggregation. However, it is not known if this occurs in humans.
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, holy basil might increase the risk of hypoglycemia when taken with antidiabetes drugs.
Small clinical studies show that taking holy basil can decrease fasting blood glucose and other measures of glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Pentobarbital (Nembutal)
Theoretically, holy basil seed oil might increase the sedative effects of pentobarbital.
Animal research shows that holy basil seed oil increases pentobarbitone-induced sleeping time. However, it is not known if this occurs in humans or if this applies to other barbiturates or sedatives.
organic Black Currant
Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs
Theoretically, black currant seed oil might increase the risk of bleeding if used in combination with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a constituent of black currant seed oil, appears to have antiplatelet effects.
Phenothiazines
Theoretically, black currant seed oil might increase the risk of seizure in patients receiving phenothiazines.
Black currant seed oil contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). There is some concern that taking supplements containing GLA might cause seizures, or lower the seizure threshold, when taken with phenothiazines, although there is no evidence that black currant seed oil causes seizures. In one report, three patients with schizophrenia who had received phenothiazines developed EEG changes suggestive of temporal lobe epilepsy after starting treatment with GLA, although none experienced an actual seizure. In another report, two patients with schizophrenia who were stabilized on phenothiazines developed seizures when evening primrose 4 grams daily, which contains GLA, was added. One of these patients had a prior history of seizures.
