Computed from our clinical databases

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of Ultimate Friendly Flora by ProCaps Laboratories

Four independent checks of what is known — a summary of the available information, not a grade of the product itself.

Evidence for Intended Use
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not assessable

The stated purpose hasn't been mapped to our evidence data yet.

Why this rating?
  • We haven't mapped this product's purpose to our evidence data yet — it'll be graded on the next content refresh.
Ingredient Transparency
Low

Most active ingredients don't disclose an individual amount — you can't tell how much of each you're getting.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 5 active ingredients.
  • “Total CFU” is listed as a grouped ingredient — the label doesn't break down how much of each component you get.
Known Interaction Concern
Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 2 matched ingredients can interact with medications — Lactobacillus Acidophilus.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • For scale: 182 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.
Safety Information
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 2 of the 2 matched ingredients.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 2 of 2.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 2 of 2.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

HelloPharmacist summaryFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.

Assessment coverage: 2 of 5 active ingredients matched to our full ingredient reviews (monographs). Based on the product label dated Jan 25, 2012.

This Scorecard evaluates available label information, ingredient evidence, and known medication-safety considerations. It does not independently verify product identity, purity, potency, contamination, or manufacturing quality. How these ratings are computed

General Statements

Andrew Lessman’s ULTIMATE FRIENDLY FLORA is our ultra-high potency (25 Billion CFU per capsule), unique blend of Prebiotics and Probiotics to enhance the Friendly Flora (beneficial microorganisms) in our digestive system. Probiotic means “for life” and Probiotics have been beneficially consumed for thousands of years. It is well established that the Friendly Flora that populate our GI tract play a vital role in our overall health. This formula provides five carefully selected varieties of microflora, since a balanced population of Friendly Flora is essential for optimum nutrient absorption, as well as healthy immune and digestive system function. The delicate balance of microflora in our digestive system is easily upset by daily stress, digestive issues and normal aging. This balance is further disrupted by medications that affect the digestive system, including antacids or even worse, antibiotics, which can wipe out our Friendly Flora. The most common source of Probiotics is yogurt, but it generally contains low levels of only a single variety of probiotic and yogurt can present digestive issues, along with unwanted sugar and calories. Our Ultimate Friendly Flora provides a remarkable 25 Billion CFU (Colony Forming Units) per capsule of five distinct varieties of Friendly Flora specially selected for both their unique stability at room temperature, as well as their remarkable ability to survive the harsh extremes of acidity, alkalinity and digestive enzymes in the digestive system. The resulting formula retains its potency to ensure all the benefits you seek. We also add Fructooligosaccharides (FOS), since no Friendly Flora formula is complete without the food required to sustain a healthy balance of beneficial Friendly Flora.

Antibiotic Drugs

Theoretically, taking Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic drugs might decrease the effectiveness of L. acidophilus.
L. acidophilus preparations usually contain live and active organisms. Therefore, simultaneously taking antibiotics might kill a significant number of the organisms. Tell patients to separate administration of antibiotics and L. acidophilus preparations by at least two hours.
