UriCare Ingredients & Drug Interactions
by Himalaya
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking UriCare against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

HelloPharmacist Scorecard of UriCare by Himalaya
Our pharmacy team’s full take, with four database checks built into the cards below — a summary of what is known, not a grade of the product itself.
What’s inside
Low disclosure
UriCare contains 16 active ingredients, mostly in the form of a proprietary herbal extract blend. The named ingredients include Cyperus and its extract, Shilajeet (a mineral-rich substance) and its extract, Didymocarpus and its extract, plus Onosma bracteatum, Winter Begonia and extract, Prickly Chaff flower and extract, Little Ironweed and extract, and Indian Madder and extract.
The product also contains one inactive ingredient: plant-based cellulose, which is a binder.
Does it work?
Not established
The effectiveness data we hold is limited. For Shilajeet and its extract, evidence is insufficient to rate their use for Alzheimer disease, sexual dysfunction, athletic performance, benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate), or osteopenia (low bone density).
For Didymocarpus extract (monographed as Astragalus), evidence is also insufficient to rate its use for allergic rhinitis (hay fever), amenorrhea (absent periods), aplastic anemia, angina, asthma, or beta-thalassemia. We do not have established effectiveness ratings in our data for the other ingredients in this product.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
Cyperus and Cyperus extract have very limited human safety data and should be used only under professional guidance. Shilajeet and its extract carry a caution: unpurified products may contain heavy metals or other contaminants, so use only purified, tested brands.
Rare side effects reported with shilajit include headache and, in one case, a serious allergic reaction (hives and anaphylaxis) triggered by a higher dose and exercise. Didymocarpus extract (Astragalus) is generally well tolerated short-term in healthy adults, though human safety data is limited.
Reported side effects are uncommon and include dizziness, rash, eczema, and rare cases of angina or palpitations, though these may not have been caused by the ingredient itself.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
Before taking UriCare, double-check your medications with your doctor or pharmacist. The most serious concern is combined use with sedatives and anti-anxiety drugs (benzodiazepines, barbiturates, or other CNS depressants) — these may cause excessive drowsiness and impaired motor control.
You should also check if you take diabetes medications, immune-suppressing drugs, lithium, or cyclophosphamide. For several ingredients in this product, we do not hold interaction data, so a full medication review with your own pharmacist is important.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFormula with limited ingredient disclosure with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
UriCare may be an option if you're looking for a herbal urinary support supplement, but it's important to know that several of its ingredients interact with common medications — especially those for anxiety, sleep, diabetes, mood, and immune conditions. If you take any prescription or over-the-counter medications, or if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting this product.
The safety data for some ingredients is very limited, so use under professional guidance is recommended.

UriCare by Himalaya Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Himalaya's UriCare contains several ingredients with documented interactions.
Through its Cyperus, Cyperus extract, Shilajeet (also called Shilajit), Shilajeet extract, and Didymocarpus extract content, this product may interact with a number of medications. The most serious interactions involve central nervous system depressants (drugs that make you drowsy) — Cyperus and Cyperus extract may increase drowsiness and impair motor reflexes when combined with benzodiazepines (anti-anxiety medications like Valium or Klonopin), barbiturates (older sedatives), or other CNS depressants.
Read the full breakdown — every affected drug type, severity by severity
Shilajeet and Shilajeet extract may lower blood sugar more than expected when taken with diabetes medications, raising the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Didymocarpus extract (monographed as Astragalus) carries several Moderate-severity interactions: it may interfere with medications that suppress the immune system, increase lithium levels and side effects, potentially interfere with cyclophosphamide (a chemotherapy drug), and also increase the risk of low blood sugar when combined with diabetes medications.
We could not check the interaction data for Didymocarpus, Onosma bracteatum, Winter Begonia, Prickly Chaff flower, Little Ironweed, Onosma extract, Winter Begonia extract, Indian Madder, Indian Madder extract, and Prickly Chaff flower extract — we hold no monograph information for these ingredients.
Altogether, these interactions span 460 individual medications. Before you start UriCare, check your exact medications using the search tool on this page, and talk with your doctor or pharmacist about whether this product is right for you.

Cyperus
Barbiturates
Animal research suggests that taking adrue in combination with sodium thiopental increases total sleep time three-fold compared to the effects of sodium thiopental alone. Theoretically, concomitant use of adrue and barbiturates might increase the risk of drowsiness and motor reflex depression. Some barbiturates include amobarbital (Amytal), butabarbital (Butisol), mephobarbital (Mebaral), pentobarbital (Nembutal), phenobarbital (Luminal), secobarbital (Seconal), and others.
Benzodiazepines
Animal research suggests that taking adrue in combination with diazepam increases total sleep time four-fold compared to the effects of diazepam alone. Theoretically, concomitant use adrue and benzodiazepines might increase the risk of drowsiness and motor reflex depression. Some benzodiazepines include clonazepam (Klonopin), diazepam (Valium), lorazepam (Ativan), and others.
Cns Depressants
Animal research suggests that taking adrue in combination with sodium thiopental or diazepam increases total sleep time up to four-fold compared to the effects of the drugs alone. Theoretically, concomitant use of adrue with CNS depressants might cause additive sedation. Some CNS depressants include benzodiazepines, such as diazepam (Valium), alprazolam (Xanax), triazolam (Halcion), and estazolam (ProSom); barbiturates, such as mephobarbital (Mebaral), phenobarbital (Luminal Sodium), and pentobarbital sodium (Nembutal); zolpidem (Ambien); and others.
Didymocarpus extract
Antidiabetes Drugs
Theoretically, taking astragalus with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Clinical research in humans shows that astragalus might have hypoglycemic effects. Theoretically, taking astragalus, especially in combination with other hypoglycemic agents, might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Cyclophosphamide
Theoretically, astragalus might interfere with cyclophosphamide therapy.
Evidence regarding the effect of astragalus on immunosuppression caused by cyclophosphamide is conflicting. Some animal research suggests that astragalus reverses cyclophosphamide-induced immunosuppression. However, other animal research shows no effect.
Immunosuppressants
Theoretically, astragalus might interfere with immunosuppressive therapy.
Astragalus seems to stimulate immune function. Theoretically, taking astragalus might decrease the effects of immunosuppressive therapy.
Lithium
Theoretically, astragalus might increase levels and adverse effects of lithium.
Animal research suggests that astragalus has diuretic properties. Theoretically, due to this diuretic effect, astragalus might reduce excretion and increase levels of lithium.
Shilajeet
Antidiabetes Drugs
Taking shilajit with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Most human and animal research shows that shilajit can decrease fasting plasma glucose levels. In an animal model, shilajit 100 mg per kg daily enhanced the glucose-lowering ability of both glibenclamide and metformin when given in combination over a 4 week period. Monitor blood glucose levels closely. Dose adjustments might be necessary.
