Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 4 of its 4 active ingredients.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

Himalaya's Organic Arjuna contains 4 active ingredients, all forms of Arjuna (Terminalia arjuna): two powders, one extract, and one supercritical CO2 extract. All four deliver the same plant compound in different forms — powder is the traditional whole-plant form, while extracts concentrate the active compounds.

The product contains no inactive ingredients listed.

Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Not established

The graded evidence we hold for these ingredients covers different conditions than the ones this product is marketed for, so there's no established rating for its stated use — see Terminalia's own graded uses on its monograph.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: promote cardiac function and maintain cholesterol levels.
  • We looked for evidence on: Coronary heart disease (CHD), Heart failure, Hyperlipidemia, Hypertension, cardiovascular health, heart support.
  • The closest evidence on file: Terminalia is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Coronary heart disease (CHD) (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Terminalia is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Heart failure, Hyperlipidemia, Hypertension.

The evidence for Arjuna isn't established yet in the data we hold. The product is marketed for obesity, high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia), high blood pressure (hypertension), and angina, but the research we have rates all of these as having insufficient reliable evidence.

That doesn't mean it doesn't work — it means we don't have strong clinical studies to confirm it does. If you're considering it for one of these uses, talk with your doctor about whether it's right for you.

How safe is it?

Some data gaps
Safety Information · database check
Some gaps

Safety data exists for these ingredients, but with some important gaps.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 0 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Arjuna is generally well tolerated short-term in studies, but long-term safety data and quality vary by product, so consistency matters if you use it regularly. There's not enough safety information to recommend it during pregnancy or while breastfeeding — the data advises against use in both situations.

No adverse effects have been reported in the studies we have on file.

Moderate identified

The most serious documented interaction for these ingredients is Moderate. Check your medications for a personalized result.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Terminalia.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs; diabetes medications.
  • For scale: 934 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking this product, double-check with your pharmacist or doctor if you're on blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin or clopidogrel), diabetes medications, chlorzoxazone (a muscle relaxer), omeprazole (a heartburn drug), or any medication metabolized by liver enzymes CYP2D6, CYP2C9, or CYP3A4. These include many antidepressants, blood pressure medications, and other common drugs.

All of these interactions are rated Moderate.

The bottom line

Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no established evidence rating for its marketed use. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and some safety-information gaps remain.

Organic Arjuna is a traditional Ayurvedic herb that may have a role in heart and metabolic health, but the clinical evidence isn't solid yet. Because it interacts with blood thinners, diabetes drugs, and a large number of medications processed by your liver, it's not a grab-and-go supplement.

If you take any prescription medication or are pregnant or breastfeeding, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting.

Does Organic Arjuna by Himalaya interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Organic Arjuna has a known interaction with 933 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Organic Arjuna contains 4 active ingredients, and an interaction can come from any of them. We check every ingredient, combine the results into one list per medication, and show which ingredient and mechanism is responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this if I'm on a blood thinner like warfarin?
Not without talking to your doctor first. Arjuna may increase bleeding risk when used with blood thinners or blood clot preventers. Your prescriber needs to know you're considering it and can decide if it's safe for you.

The safety data advises against it — there isn't enough information to know whether it's safe for you or your baby. Talk with your doctor or midwife before using it if you're pregnant or nursing.
What does Arjuna actually do?
Arjuna is traditionally used for heart and circulatory health. The product is marketed for high cholesterol, high blood pressure, angina, and obesity, but we don't have strong clinical evidence showing it works for these yet.
Are there any side effects listed for Arjuna?
No adverse effects are reported in the study data we have on file. That said, long-term safety varies by product, so quality and consistency matter if you use it over time.
Does this product contain any fillers or binders?
No inactive ingredients are listed for this product — it's the active Arjuna forms only.
