Horse chestnut seed extract is generally well tolerated when properly processed to remove the toxic compound esculin, though dizziness, upset stomach, headache, and itching have been reported. Butcher's broom is generally well tolerated short-term but can cause diarrhea, indigestion, heartburn, nausea, and vomiting.
