Every active ingredient lists its own amount on the label.

Why this rating?
  • The label discloses an exact amount for 1 of its 1 active ingredient.
  • No proprietary blends here — you can verify the dose of every single component.

This product contains one active ingredient: magnolia liliiflora flower extract in a dried form. Magnolia has been used traditionally to support various aspects of health, and the extract is delivered in a liquid base made from glycerin and water — no alcohol, as the name suggests.

Does it work?

Insufficient evidence
Evidence for Intended Use · database check
By FDA rules, dietary supplements can’t claim to treat, cure, or prevent disease — so labels speak in careful marketing language. We discern each product’s intended use from its name, label claims, and label statements, then grade the clinical evidence for that use. How these ratings are computed
Insufficient

There isn't enough reliable clinical evidence to rate this product's ingredients for its stated purpose.

Why this rating?
  • The label markets this product for: Anxiety and stress support.
  • We looked for evidence on: Anxiety, Stress, Sleep quality, Emotional balance.
  • The closest evidence on file: Magnolia is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Anxiety (Natural Medicines).
  • Also on file: Magnolia is rated "Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate" for Stress.

The evidence we have supports magnolia for one use: it's possibly effective for gingivitis (gum inflammation). For allergic rhinitis (hay fever), anxiety, and dental plaque, the evidence isn't solid enough for us to rate it either way.

The data we hold doesn't establish effectiveness for those purposes.

How safe is it?

Well-documented data
Safety Information · database check
Well characterized

Adverse-effect, pregnancy, and general safety data are on file for most of these ingredients.

Why this rating?
  • We hold adverse-effect (side-effect) data for 1 of the 1 matched ingredient.
  • Pregnancy & breastfeeding safety ratings cover 1 of 1.
  • General safety write-ups exist for 1 of 1.
  • Remember: this measures how much safety information exists. Thin data is not the same as being safe.

Magnolia is generally well tolerated when taken by mouth, though human safety data is limited. For pregnancy, the safety data advises against use — some sources caution it may affect the uterus.

Breastfeeding isn't supported by reliable data either, so it's best avoided during lactation. In a few trial participants who took magnolia in combination with other herbs, side effects like fatigue, headache, hand tremors, and one report of sexual dysfunction occurred, though it's unclear whether magnolia itself was responsible.

Why this rating?
  • 1 of the 1 matched ingredient can interact with medications — Magnolia.
  • The most serious interaction on file is rated Moderate.
  • Some involve high-stakes drug classes: anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs.
  • For scale: 351 individual medications appear in the full list. A big number alone doesn't make a product dangerous — what matters is whether YOUR medication is on it, so run yours through the interaction checker on this page.

Before taking Xin Yi Alcohol Free, double-check with your doctor or pharmacist if you take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (like warfarin, aspirin, or clopidogrel) — magnolia may raise your bleeding risk. Also flag any CNS depressants, including sedatives, sleep aids, anti-anxiety medications, or opioid pain relievers, since magnolia could add to their drowsy or depressant effects.

Anticoagulant/Antiplatelet Drugs

Theoretically, magnolia might have additive effects and increase the risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro research shows that the chemicals magnolol and honokiol, isolated from magnolia bark, inhibit platelet aggregation that is experimentally induced by collagen and arachidonic acid. However, they do not inhibit platelet aggregation that is induced by adenosine diphosphate, platelet-activating factor, or thrombin. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Likelihood Possible Evidence D
Cns Depressants

Theoretically, concomitant use of large doses of magnolia bark and CNS depressants might have additive effects.
In vitro and animal research shows that constituents extracted from magnolia bark, especially honokiol and magnolol, have sedative effects. These effects may be due to the inhibition of catecholamine release and modulation of gamma-aminobutyric acid-A (GABA-A) receptors.

Xin Yi Alcohol Free by Hawaii Pharm: Common Questions

Does Xin Yi Alcohol Free by Hawaii Pharm interact with any medications?
Yes. Based on its ingredients, Xin Yi Alcohol Free has a known interaction with 351 medications. Use the checker to see how it interacts with a specific drug.
How can one product interact with so many drugs?
Xin Yi Alcohol Free contains a single active ingredient, and that one ingredient can interact with many different medications on its own. We check it against each medication and show the mechanism responsible.
Where does this information come from?
The product label data comes from the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD); the interaction data is built on the Natural Medicines database and reviewed by HelloPharmacist pharmacists.
Can I take this if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
Not recommended. Magnolia is considered unsafe in pregnancy because some sources caution it may affect the uterus. For breastfeeding, there isn't enough reliable safety data, so it's best avoided. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist about your specific situation if you're considering it during these times.
What is magnolia flower extract used for?
The evidence we hold shows magnolia is possibly effective for gingivitis — gum swelling and inflammation. For hay fever, anxiety, and dental plaque, we don't have enough solid evidence to say whether it works or not.
Does this product contain alcohol?
No. It's alcohol-free, as the name indicates. The liquid base is made from glycerin and water.
What side effects might I experience?
When taken by mouth, magnolia is generally well tolerated. Topical use can cause contact dermatitis (skin irritation). In trial participants, a few reported fatigue, headache, hand tremors, and one reported sexual dysfunction, though it's unclear if magnolia was the cause.
Is magnolia safe to use long-term?
Human safety data on magnolia is limited, so we don't have solid information about long-term use. If you're thinking about taking it regularly, check with your doctor or pharmacist first.
