Yarrow Ingredients & Drug Interactions
What is this page for?
First and foremost: checking Yarrow against your medications. The heart of this page is the interaction checker and the full interaction report — how this product’s ingredients may interact with prescription and over-the-counter medicines you may be taking.
Around that, we add a pharmacist’s high-level view of the product as a whole — what’s inside, the evidence for its stated use, how transparent the label is, and what safety data exists — so you can see the full picture in one place. It’s educational information from our licensed clinical databases and the clinical staff at HelloPharmacist — not medical advice — and we don’t sell or endorse products. Our editorial policy

What’s inside
Full disclosure
This product contains one active ingredient: yarrow (Achillea millefolium) aerial parts extract. The liquid also includes purified water, vegetable glycerin, and 12–15% certified organic alcohol as inactive ingredients that preserve and deliver the extract.
Does it work?
Couldn't assess
The evidence for yarrow isn't established in our data. The product is traditionally used for tonsillitis, wound healing, eczema, period pain, and yeast infection, but we don't hold reliable evidence that it works for any of these conditions.
If you're considering it for a specific health concern, talk with your doctor or pharmacist about what the research actually shows and whether it's right for you.
How safe is it?
Well-documented data
When taken by mouth or applied inside the vagina, yarrow is generally well tolerated. Topically (on skin), it can cause allergic reactions — rash, hives, or contact dermatitis — especially in people sensitive to its natural compounds.
One person who handled yarrow flowers developed sinus and asthma symptoms. The safety data also advise against use in pregnancy because of potential effects on the uterus, and there isn't enough information to know if it's safe while breastfeeding, so talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using it in either situation.
Meds to double-check
Moderate interaction found
If you take lithium, talk with your doctor or pharmacist before using this product — yarrow may increase lithium levels and require a dose adjustment. No other medications are documented to interact with the ingredient we could check, but confirm your full medication list with your healthcare provider.
The bottom line
Scorecard at a glanceFully disclosed formula with no assessable stated purpose. Moderate medication interactions have been identified, and safety information is well characterized.
Yarrow is a traditional herbal extract with limited evidence for its claimed uses. The main concern is if you take lithium — the diuretic effect could raise lithium levels and require a dose adjustment.
If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a history of skin sensitivity or allergies, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting it.

Yarrow by Nature's Answer Drug Interactions
HelloPharmacist Interaction Report
Yarrow by Nature's Answer has one documented interaction to watch for: it may affect how your body handles lithium, a mood-stabilizing medication.
Yarrow appears to have mild diuretic activity (it increases urination), which could theoretically reduce how much lithium your kidneys excrete and raise the drug's levels in your blood — potentially causing lithium side effects. If you take lithium, your doctor may need to adjust your dose, so check with them before starting yarrow.
