🩺 Clinical
Acetaminophen is used to relieve mild to moderate pain and to reduce fever. Acetaminophen is in a class of medications called analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (fever reducers). It works by changing the way the body senses pain and by cooling the body.
Read the full MedlinePlus article ↗This is an over-the-counter kit containing daytime and nighttime cold and flu products sold under FDA's OTC monograph rules. The daytime formulation contains acetaminophen (a pain reliever and fever reducer), dextromethorphan (a cough suppressant), guaifenesin (an expectorant to help thin mucus), and phenylephrine (a decongestant). The nighttime product adds diphenhydramine, an antihistamine that also causes drowsiness. Together, these ingredients are typically used to temporarily relieve multiple cold and flu symptoms like cough, congestion, aches, fever, and runny nose.
