Read the full MedlinePlus article ↗This is an OTC kit containing two separate cold and cough products. The daytime formula typically includes dextromethorphan (a cough suppressant) and phenylephrine (a nasal decongestant). The nighttime formula typically includes dextromethorphan, brompheniramine (an antihistamine), and diphenhydramine (another antihistamine that may cause drowsiness). These products are marketed under FDA's over-the-counter monograph rules for common cold symptoms.
