This is an over-the-counter topical ointment containing petrolatum as its active ingredient. Petrolatum is commonly used as a skin protectant and moisturizer to help prevent moisture loss and soothe dry or irritated skin. The product is marketed as an OTC monograph drug, meaning it follows FDA's established rules for skin protectant products in this category rather than undergoing individual approval. It is applied directly to the skin by rubbing onto the affected area.
