a) During clinical trials of patients with acute coronary syndrome without ST-elevation presenting within 24 hours of chest pain or ischemia symptoms, coadministration of aspirin and clopidogrel resulted in increased bleeding compared with aspirin and placebo. Major bleeding was reported in 3.7% of patients receiving aspirin/clopidogrel (n=6259) with 2.2% reported as life threatening compared with 2.7% and 1.8% of aspirin/placebo patients (n=6303), respectively. Minor bleeding was reported in 5.1% of aspirin/clopidogrel patients compared with 2.4% of aspirin/placebo patients. In a similar randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study of patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction, major bleeding (cerebral or noncerebral) as reported in 0.6% of patients administered aspirin/clopidogrel (n=22,961) compared with 0.5% of patients administered aspirin/placebo (n=22,891). Minor noncerebral bleeding and all noncerebral bleeding was reported in 3.6% and 3.9% of aspirin/clopidogrel patients, respectively, compared with 3.1% and 3.4% of aspirin/placebo patients 3.
