What happens

Increased digoxin exposure and prolonged half-life of digoxin

Interaction Deep Dive

Coadministration of digoxin and NSAIDs may increase digoxin exposure and prolong the half-life of digoxin. If concurrent use is required, monitoring of serum digoxin levels is recommended21, before initiation. Monitor potential signs and symptoms of clinical toxicity is necessary when initiating, adjusting, or discontinuing ACE-inhibitors 3456.

Why it happens (mechanism)

Reduced GFR or tubular secretion; impaired secretion of digoxin
