Interaction Deep Dive

Concomitant use of digoxin (P-gp substrate with NTI) with valbenazine (P-gp inhibitor) may significantly increase digoxin exposure and digoxin adverse effects. Digoxin dosage adjustment may be necessary and monitoring of digoxin levels is recommended3, also monitor for potential signs and symptoms of clinical toxicity when initiating, adjusting, or discontinuing valbenazine 12. In a pharmacokinetic study, coadministration of digoxin with valbenazine resulted in an approximate 2-fold increase in digoxin Cmax and 1.5-fold increase of AUC 3.
