1-epiandrosterone and Dolutegravir

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Dolutegravir and 1-epiandrosterone in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for 1-epiandrosterone at all — not against Dolutegravir, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

What Dolutegravir’s Own FDA Label Lists

This is not an interaction — none of it involves 1-epiandrosterone. These are the most notable effects listed in the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Dolutegravir’s own FDA label, for the medication by itself. Knowing the drug’s own list makes it easier to work out the likely cause if something new turns up while you take both. 2 of them are worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

  • Liver problems Worth acting on
  • An allergic reaction Worth acting on
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Tiredness mentioned in 5.4% of FDA reports for Dolutegravir
  • Headache mentioned in 4.6% of FDA reports for Dolutegravir
  • A skin rash

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Dolutegravir. Read the label on DailyMed › Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 19,465 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Dolutegravir that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. 1-epiandrosterone’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no 1-epiandrosterone side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that 1-epiandrosterone has no side effects.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Dolutegravir page

“Dolutegravir (Tivicay) works only when its blood level stays high enough to keep HIV suppressed, so a supplement that drags that level down can let the virus rebound, and this list warrants genuine care. Three of the 65 entries are rated major.”

About 1-epiandrosterone

What is 1-epiandrosterone?

1-epiandrosterone
  • Muscle building
  • Athletic performance
  • Improving body composition
  • Strength gains

1-epiandrosterone (often sold as a '1-andro' prohormone) is a steroid-related compound marketed to bodybuilders for muscle and strength gains, but solid human evidence is very limited and the safety profile is poorly understood. Because it can act like an anabolic steroid in the body and may carry liver, hormonal, and cardiovascular risks, most people should avoid it and talk to a pharmacist or doctor first.

Not a plant; a synthetic or lab-made steroid compound (prohormone) · Capsules, tablets, sometimes part of multi-ingredient bodybuilding 'prohormone' supplements

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether 1-epiandrosterone is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our 1-epiandrosterone record says about it on its own.

1-epiandrosterone: dosing

There is no established safe or effective dose for 1-epiandrosterone. Because these products can act like steroids and may carry real risks, do not assume "more is better." The safest choice for most people is to avoid it.
