Suvorexant falls under CNS DEPRESSANTS — the group 1,4-butanediol interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of 1,4-butanediol with CNS depressants may potentiate respiratory and CNS depression.
1,4-Butanediol is metabolized to gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB). Concomitant use of CNS depressants with GHB may cause serious CNS and respiratory depression.

First, a real safety note: 1,4-butanediol is not a true supplement. Once swallowed, your body turns it into GHB, a strong substance that slows the brain and breathing. Suvorexant (Belsomra) already calms the brain to help you fall asleep, so stacking these two together pushes in the same direction, much harder.

Putting them together can lead to very deep sedation, confusion, trouble waking up, and dangerously slow or shallow breathing. Suvorexant on its own can cause next-day grogginess and sleep-driving; with GHB on board, that danger climbs sharply and can become life-threatening. The formal evidence here is limited and partly theoretical, but the risk is real and serious. Please don't combine these, and talk with your pharmacist or doctor.
