Amino Acid Therapy and Cisplatin

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Cisplatin and Amino Acid Therapy in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Amino Acid Therapy at all — not against Cisplatin, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Amino Acid Therapy safety at a glance

Amino Acid Therapy overall Use caution Most amino acids are reasonably safe in food amounts, but high-dose supplements should be used carefully.

Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.

These are the most notable effects listed in the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Cisplatin’s own FDA label, for the medication by itself. • An electrolyte imbalance Worth acting on
  • Loss of vision Worth acting on
  • Low magnesium Worth acting on
  • Hearing loss Worth acting on
  • A stroke or mini-stroke Worth acting on

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Cisplatin. Read the label on DailyMed › Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 77,669 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Cisplatin that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Amino Acid Therapy’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Amino Acid Therapy side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Amino Acid Therapy has no side effects.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Cisplatin page

“Kidney damage is the risk I would flag first for anyone receiving cisplatin (Platinol-AQ). Cisplatin is a chemotherapy drug that already stresses the kidneys, and two of the three major-rated interactions on this list, Siberian cocklebur and asarabacca, involve herbs that can injure the kidneys on their own, stacking harm on an organ t…”

About Amino Acid Therapy

What is Amino Acid Therapy?

  • Muscle building and recovery
  • Mood and sleep support
  • Fatigue and energy
  • Nutritional support
  • Wound healing

Amino acid therapy means using individual amino acids (the building blocks of protein) as supplements to support muscle, mood, sleep, or general nutrition. Some specific amino acids have good evidence for certain uses, but the broad idea of treating many conditions with custom amino acid blends is not well proven. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before starting, especially if you have kidney or liver problems.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Amino Acid Therapy is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Amino Acid Therapy record says about it on its own.

Amino Acid Therapy: dosing

There is no single standard dose for "amino acid therapy," because the right amount depends on the specific amino acid and the reason you are taking it. Doses studied for one amino acid do not apply to others. The safest approach is to follow the directions on the product label and not exceed them. They can help you decide whether a supplement is appropriate and at what amount.
