No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Androstenetrione and Cefaclor in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Androstenetrione and Cefaclor

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Cefaclor and Androstenetrione in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Cefaclor

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Cefaclor is filed under 6 classifications — including organic anion transporter 3 (oat3) substrates, organic anion transporter 1 (oat1) substrates, antibiotic drugs. Androstenetrione has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being androgens (minor) — and none of Cefaclor’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What to actually watch for

What Androstenetrione Itself Has Been Linked To

This is not an interaction — nothing below involves Cefaclor. It is the side-effect record for Androstenetrione on its own, from the licensed Natural Medicines monograph. If something new turns up after you add Androstenetrione, this list is the first place to look.

  • Breast tenderness / Acne Additional detail

“There is no data regarding oral use of androstenetrione in humans. However, androstenetrione might increase testosterone levels. Theoretically, androstenetrione might cause testosterone-like side effects including spermatogenesis and infertility, acne, testicular atrophy, gynecomastia, behavioral changes, cardiovascular disease, and potentially increase the risk of pancreatic and prostate cancer.”

Everything above comes from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record for Androstenetrione — expand a row for the licensed statement it rests on. We read the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Cefaclor’s FDA label too, and the two lists don’t meaningfully overlap — which is why no Cefaclor column appears here.

How to take them

Some Cefaclor Products Have a Food Rule — Androstenetrione Should Not Break It

At least one FDA label for a product containing Cefaclor says to take it with food. If you take Androstenetrione on an empty stomach out of habit, keep them separate — and take Cefaclor with a meal where the label says to.

This may not be true of your version. Food instructions belong to the product, not the ingredient: two Cefaclor products can carry different directions, and extended-release forms often differ from immediate-release ones. The label we read is quoted below — check the directions on your own box or bottle, or ask your pharmacist, for how to take the exact product you were given.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION The absorption of cefaclor extended-release tablets is enhanced when it is administered with food.

From the Dosage and Administration section of the FDA label we read for Cefaclor — where that label names a specific product, the instruction is that product's. See the Cefaclor drug page ›

A food rule is not an interaction — it is about how much of the medicine you absorb. The directions that came with your own product, and your pharmacist, outrank anything on this page.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Cefaclor page

“The entries worth understanding before any others on this cefaclor (Ceclor) page are the kidney risks and charcoal. Cefaclor is a cephalosporin antibiotic, typically a short course for ear, sinus, throat, or skin infections, and two herbs here, Siberian cocklebur and asarabacca, can damage the kidneys on their own, so pairing either wi…”

About Androstenetrione

What is Androstenetrione?

Androstenetrione
  • Boosting testosterone
  • Lowering estrogen
  • Bodybuilding and muscle building
  • Post-cycle support for steroid users
  • Athletic performance

Androstenetrione (6-OXO) is a synthetic compound marketed to raise testosterone by blocking the enzyme that turns testosterone into estrogen. Solid human evidence that it offers real benefits is lacking, and it can cause hormone-related side effects, so most people should avoid it and talk with a healthcare provider first.

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Androstenetrione is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Androstenetrione record says about it on its own.

Androstenetrione: dosing

There is no established, standardized dose for androstenetrione, and no dose has been proven safe and effective. Different products contain different amounts.Because of the hormone-related risks and weak evidence, we cannot recommend a specific amount.

About Cefaclor

What Is Cefaclor Used For?

Brand names: Ceclor CD, Ceclor

Cefaclor treats a range of bacterial infections. The capsule and oral suspension forms are used for ear infections (otitis media), lower respiratory tract infections including pneumonia, strep throat and tonsillitis, urinary tract infections (including kidney infections and bladder infections), and skin and skin structure infections.

The extended-release tablet form of Cefaclor is approved for a narrower set of uses: acute bacterial flare-ups of chronic bronchitis, strep throat and tonsillitis, and uncomplicated skin infections. Not all infections approved for the capsule or suspension are approved for the extended-release tablet — your prescriber will choose the right form for your infection.
