Apricot kernels contain amygdalin (marketed as laetrile or 'vitamin B17'), which the body can convert into cyanide and cause serious, even fatal, poisoning. There is no reliable evidence that apricot kernels or laetrile treat cancer or any other disease, and health authorities warn against eating them.
