ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen
Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Asafoetida interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Advil Dual Action combines ibuprofen and acetaminophen. The ibuprofen half is what matters here. Like other NSAIDs, ibuprofen can thin the blood a bit and irritate the stomach lining on its own. Asafoetida contains natural coumarins that, at least on paper, may also slow clotting. Put them together and you could, in theory, nudge your bleeding risk a little higher.
I'll be honest: this concern is theoretical, based on how these compounds behave rather than real patient reports, and the pinch of asafoetida used in cooking is very unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated supplements are a different story. Watch for easy bruising, nosebleeds, dark stools, or stomach upset, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ibuprofen, Acetaminophen page
“Advil Dual Action pairs ibuprofen, an NSAID with built-in stomach-bleeding risk, and acetaminophen, which the liver processes, so this interaction list deserves a careful read, not a skim. Most of the entries can add to bleeding risk, while smaller clusters put extra strain on the liver or kidneys.”

About Asafoetida
What is Asafoetida?
- Digestive upset and gas
- Bloating and stomach cramps
- Irritable bowel symptoms
- Respiratory complaints
- Used as a cooking spice
Asafoetida is a strong-smelling plant resin used widely as a spice and in traditional medicine, mainly for digestive complaints.
